This, in turn, will lead to a permanent attachment between the metal and the bone. Permanent replacement of teeth can be made without any involvement of adjacent teeth. This 19-year old male lost his upper right central incisor, due to a traumatic injury. A decision was made that a fixed partial prosthesis was not the treatment of choice, because of the unrestored adjacent abutment teeth. Instead we decided to insert a 3,75 by 15 mm titanium implant. Ater six months of healing the implant was uncovered and a temporary healing abutment was placed. The implant is now ready to have a permanent restoration placed. A metal fused to porcelain crown using an UCLA-abutment is anchored to the implant and secured with a goldscrew. This shows a radiograph.after the implant has been in function for 6 years. The bonelevel and tissue appears healthy.The implant has functioned without any problems.The fine prosthetic treatment is courtesy of Dr Gerald Biss in Port Angeles Washington.
