In 1900, a group of Greek immigrant laborers, shoe shiners, coal miners, and prospectors, seeking gold in the Rockies, migrated to the Western Metropolis of Denver, Colorado. Equipped only with the resources and treasures of their rich historical heritage, the religious faith of their fathers, and the inborn responsibility of carrying the torch of the religion and traditions, they organized the Hellenic Orthodox Church, "The Assumption," in Denver, in November, 1906. The Assumption Cathedral invites you to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ with us this year - April 27th. Welcome Message

In Syriac, Margoneetho means 'a pearl'. Syriac Christian literature depicts the pearl variously, as a symbol of our Lord, faith and the human soul. Like an exquisite pearl hidden in an oyster, the spiritual heritage of the Syriac Orthodox Church, one of the most ancient Christian churches, remains obscure to much of the world today. The Margoneetho : Syriac Orthodox Resources web site attempts to illuminate this rich and ancient heritage.
SOR is not an "official" web Site of the Syriac Orthodox Church, but receives encouragement and support from its hierarchy. Bread for the Soul Recent Publications Rev. Stephen Griffith Reports

Resource Page For 2000 years the Orthodox Church has taken a strong stand for the Sanctity of Life and against abortion. Within these pages you will find information from throughout the life of the Church concerning what the Church has taught and teaches to this day. At the 9th All-American Council, the OCA designated the Sunday preceeding January 22 "Sanctity of Life Sunday". On the Sanctity of Life page you will discover information from the Orthodox Church in America concerning this annual remembrance of the Sanctity of ALL human life. We've also included a Molieban (Prayer Service) for the Victims of Abortion . This prayer service is that prepared and used by the Oklahoma Orthodox Christians for Life. Many thanks to Reader Danial Lieuwan for getting us in contact with Fr. Anthony Nelson and the Oklahoma Orthodox Christians for Life. If you need printed copies of the Molieban, they may be purchased from OOCL. Proceeds go to support the activities of the OOCL. Then, on the Saints and the Church Speak Out page, you will discover what Saints in the early Church, many of whom found themselves in a cultural setting not unlike our own, had to say about abortion and life.
