About 1,300 people in the United States have received the knee part so the potential problem with the knee part is far smaller in scope than the problem with the Inter-Op hip prosthesis.

However, it is not common for this bone to break during recovery from general anesthesia. In a recent study investigating the use of the humerus as a potential site for bone graft harvesting, the reduction of the bone strength following the removal of graft material was called into question. Researchers want to determine if the risk for catastrophic fracture is in any way increased by the removal of bone graft material. Study Objectives: Determine if taking bone graft material from the top of the humerus weakens it enough to cause fracture during recovery from general anesthesia.
