Wednesday legend shirts " WADDLE " ... Official chatroom shuts It has come to the attention of the webmaster of this site that the Sheffield Wednesday Official Chat Room has been closed down. This is apparently dude to a series of malicious comments and threats of legal action from multiple sources towards the club. The club released the following statement "Please be aware that the current official SWFC website message board was permanently withdrawn on 17th Dec. This regrettable decision was entirely due to the increasing amount of time taken by the club to deal with complaints by users of the board about other users. This action was taken after several weeks of careful consideration, and as a last resort." The OWLSTRUST webteam wishes to express their deepest regret that the club felt it necessary to take this decision. However, the team realises that for some people the internet seems a very scary and dangerous place. Libelous remarks can be made over email and messageboards and have been proved to be offensive in a court of law. People should be very careful what they type.

E-mail: falconry@highlandescape.com Castle Falconry, providing a unique falconry experience in the Highlands. Falconry traces its origins back several thousand years and has been the passion of some of the most influential people in history. Aristocratic and romantic, this ancient sport has retained its mystique right up to the present day and few images are as powerful as a trained hawk sitting sharp eyed on a gloved fist. To watch a falconer's hawk in action can be thrilling, but to get out into the countryside and fly such a bird yourself is an experience without equal; the feel of the hawk riding your hand and the excitement as it launches into flight makes for a spellbinding encounter. At Castle Falconry we are confident of being able to make your first taste of falconry unforgettable. Leading the team is internationally acclaimed falconer and dog trainer Andy Hughes who has personally trained over 70 various birds of prey during the last 28 years, including Eagles, Falcons, Hawks and Owls. Under his guidance you are guaranteed to get the very most of your outing. Groups are kept small and this ensures plenty of involvement, at the same time promoting a friendly, informal atmosphere. A period of instruction will help you feel comfortable around hawks and teach you some basic handling skills. Then it's off into the surrounding countryside to put theory into practice.

Lamar Bombs Aardsma to End Streak
John Allen and Jeremy Gray blasted home runs off closer David Aardsma (4-1) to stun the Rice Owls 7-5 and end their 30-game winning streak Wednesday night. In the dramatic finish the Cardinals completed a come back which had overcome Rice leads of 3-0 and 4-3 and handed the Owls their first loss since February 16th. Steven Herce started for the first time since last year's College World Series and struggled before being lifted in the third with the bases loaded and no outs. (more) Rice Falls To Hawaii In Overtime At WAC Tournament 62-61 TULSA The Rice men's basketball team out-shot and out-rebounded two-time defending WAC Tournament champion Hawaii, but it was the Rainbows who escaped with a 62-61 win in overtime Thursday evening at 2003 tourney in Tulsa. The Owls, 19-10 overall, will now wait anxiously to see if a national postseason bid is in the team's future.
The team's chance for its first 20-win season since 1992 slipped away. Trailing 62-60 with with just under two seconds left in the overtime period, senior Omar-Seli Mance was fouled and sent to the free-throw line for two shots. Mance, an 81 percent free-throw shooter who had made all four of his previous attempts in the game, missed the first attempt. Knowing his team would now be better served with another missed shot and possible put-back after a rebound, Mance sent second attempt hard off the backboard. The attempt, however, spun back off the front of the rim and went back into the basket.

All owls have specially designed eyes, ears, and wings to enable them to capture their prey. Their eyes are large and on the front of their faces, giving them binocular vision and fine depth perception. They have a large concentration of rods on their retinas, but they see little color. Their eyes are ten times as light-sensitive as human eyes, but they are short-sighted so they hunt near the ground. Their eyes are so large that there is little room in their skulls for eye muscles. Thus an owl turns its head, sometimes as much as 270 degrees, rather than its eyes, to follow a moving object. Owl ears are located on the sides of the "facial disks," those round feather arrangements, and give owls the most highly developed sense of hearing of all birds. The facial feathers help to amplify and channel sounds to their ears. Generally one ear is larger than the other and slightly above or below, so the owl can pinpoint the location of a sound. It can hear a mouse or a cricket in the grass below!

This collection of pages is largely out of date these days for a number of reasons (i) time is scarce these days and (ii) it is no longer the case that these is little information on the web. This page was one of the first footballing pages on the web, but there are many other sites now and it is in their direction that I point you for up-to-date information.
