http://www.growndodo.com/wordplay/palindromes/
The dream which occupies the tortuous mind of every palindromist is that somewhere within the confines of the language lurks the Great Palindrome, a nutshell which not only fulfils the intricate demands of the art, flowing sweetly in both directions, but which also contains the Final Truth of Things. Alistair Reid Palindromania is not a disorder but, rather, an evolutionary, passionate effort to cobble letters into order and truth. I say "evolutionary" because I believe that in our species is evolving a heightened wonderment at and facility with the universe of letters. We are getting better at making the alphabet dance. Richard Lederer, The Vocabula Review , January 2002, Vol. 4, No. 1
Palindromes
They're very hard to write. My only major effort in this field is the following 306-word masterpiece, Dog Sees Ada , composed in 1991. You may expect a grander effort, to be titled Seid Ada (German for "To Be Ada") in 2002. I have a rough idea for the plot of Seid Ada but I haven't yet figured out how it will end. Writing a long palindrome requires patience and a keen eye for hidden words. If you've ever wandered the aisles of a grocery store, noticing the "lonely" in "Tylenol," the "nosy" in "Tyson," or the "soiree" in "Cheerios," there is a decent chance that you, too, could compose such a work.

After that, if your submission aren't on there, you'll probably have to resubmit it as I lost over 80 submissions in a hard drive crash. The site will also be going under some reconstruction and neatening, so for now, things may look broken and scattered. Please bear with us. No way, bud." That was the most obvious election palindrome, judging from the number of people who independently submitted it to Slate's recent contest (three.) A previous primary contest generated such stunners as "No...McCain, a monomaniac? C'mon!" In the earlier contest, a single palindromist was responsible for three of the top 10, prompting Slate's Timothy Noah to refer to him as "some kind of palindrome hustler." Which raises the question: what kind of person reads and writes palindromes? We've got the staff of

Welcome to my page! My name is Mike Maguire and I am a writer of English language palindromic poetry. In other words, poems that are spelled the same backwards as they are forwards. Here is a sample poem entitled, "Lives Evil"
Evil am I.
Evil,
as so to die not sane. Menace I lay.
A stab mocks.
I revolt. No din is still.
I kidnap and I kill.
It’s sin I don’t love. Risk combat.
Say a lie.
Cane men. A stone I do toss! Alive, I’m alive. This is from one of my books, "Drawn Inward and Other Poems." Please click here for ordering info. Click here for more palindromic poems. Here is another type of palindrome I like to write, a word-unit palindrome. In this type, it is the words, not the letters, that run in the same sequence backwards/forwards. This one is called "Seasons" and also appears in my book. Leaves fall. Approaching winter with regret, we wonder no less. Together are beauty and truth.

Binary/Decimal Palindromes
Introduction: Here is some C code that I wrote to find a unique set of numbers. These numbers are palindromic (can be read the same way backward as they are read forward) in both Base-2 (binary) and Base-10 (decimal). Finding these numbers gets exponentially harder as the numbers get bigger, but it would not be hard to pick up where I left off and find the next big palindrome! It might take a while though. I've spent years computing this list, and I am pretty sure that this is the most extensive list in existence. This list is all-inclusive up to the last entry. In other words, I haven't skipped any numbers that should be on this list. With this program it is possible to search for palindromes in the number-space well beyond the end of this list, but before accepting an arbitrarily large palindrome I'd kind-of like to know each and every palindrome that should be before it. Be sure to e-mail me if you find any new binary/decimal palindromes! Also please e-mail me if you discover ways in which to optimize my code. Or you can e-mail me if you want to help me discover new binary/decimal palindromes.

http://home.cfl.rr.com/p196/letters.html
Palindromes are also found in words and sentences. Usually, formatting and punctuation are removed, and only the letters themselves are figured, but the principle of reading the phrase or word forward or backward, is still the same as what we've been dealing with. For example: Madam, I'm Adam is an example of a sentence palindrome. radar would be an example of a word. Now, in my opinion, there are very few sentences, that work well as a palindrome. Take the following for example: Pull up if I pull up. is just fine with me. So is: A Santa lived as a devil at NASA. However, On a clover, if alive, erupts a vast, pure evil; a fire volcano. It just doesn't have a flow to it!! Maybe I'm not poetic enough.... I think my favorite though is "Do geese see God?" Now, I appreciate the effort that people spend trying to come up with these things, but they just don't hold my attention very long. If you want to read a bit more on them, I'd direct you over to: Jim Kalb's Palindrome Connection. As for me, the numeric type holds more interest. Maybe it's because they are simpler to understand! http://haldjas.folklore.ee/folklore/vol8/mare.htm
PALINDROMES AND LETTER FORMULAE: SOME RECONSIDERATIONS
Letter formulae and independent incantations have been distinguished as a separate subgroup of spells. Karlis Straubergs has referred to letter formulae as cabalistic texts (Straubergs 1939: 270 ff.). Generically scholars have used the name of one of the most wide-spread incantations abrakadabra (Astakhova 1928: 50 ff.; Poznanski 1917, 58 ff.; Peskov 1977, 38; Gagulashvili 1983, 104 ff.). In standard language the word has gradually taken on the meaning of the unknown and the unintelligible.
Here the notion of letter formula will cover but the above-mentioned phenomena. Incantations containing distorted word forms and wholly foreign-language incantations are classifiable by other formal criteria and will not be discussed at this point.
Main types of letter formulae
As indicated above, most letter formulae are the so-called letter quadrates consisting of vowels, consonants or letters which may but need not make up meaningful words. The group also comprises letter abbreviations derived from prayers, incantations composed of special meaningless spells and sacral names. A pervasive characteristic of all these formulae is the fact that in addition to a linear representation there were frequent attempts at graphic design of the text, it was mostly laid out in circles, quadrangles, labyrinths, the image of the Sun, etc. and the text was complemented with magic signs, loops or surrounded, for example, with circles.
In principle the quadrangles are
