K-12 Law-Related Education
Welcome to the K-12 Law-Related Education Homepage of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Web site! The Pennsylvania Bar Association’s law-related education programs are designed to help Pennsylvania schools lay a foundation for teaching civics and government in the classroom. The PBA partners with the Pennsylvania Department of Education, National Constitution Center, county bar associations, judges and lawyers to accomplish this goal. The cornerstone LRE projects, include I Signed the Constitution, Project PEACE, Law Day, Mock Trial and Stepping Out. The K-12 Law-Related Education Homepage is designed to be an informational resource for educators in law-related education. It provides actual lesson plans, links to grant opportunities and other law-related education organizations and information about getting involved in the PBA’s law-related education programs. Please take a few moments to explore this area and see what the PBA has to offer. Pennsylvania Bar Association K-12 Law-Related Education Programs

K-12
Is your district good?
The Inquirer's 2003 Report Card on the Schools aims to inform students, parents, educators and taxpayers about various topics as well as fiscal and academic matters in the region's schools. K-12 HEADLINES Philadelphia district may add school managers Philadelphia schools chief Paul G. Vallas said yesterday that the district had begun advertising for additional groups to manage or somehow become involved with more city schools. ( By Susan Snyder, Inquirer Staff Writer, 04/10/2003 01:20 PM EDT) Budgets stump school districts Disagreement between the governor and the legislature has left state funding unclear. But the deadline is coming. As they craft this year's school budgets, Pennsylvania educators are confronted with a basic math problem: How do they know how much money to spend if they don't know how much money they will have? eSchoolMall Selects Pennsylvania Based ProSoft Technologies, Inc. as Strategic Partner
Online Procurement and Fund Accounting Strategic Partnership Provides Schools With a Fully Integrated Procurement Package That Will Enable Them To Electronically Manage Every Stage of Their Purchasing Cycle. Horsham, PA, August 20, 2001, eSchoolMall™, the leading single-source solution for online procurement for K-12 schools, today announced a partnership with ProSoft Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of Fund Accounting systems for K-12 schools in Pennsylvania. An interface is being developed between the eSchoolMall and ProSoft solutions which will allow school districts to complete each stage of the procurement process - from sealed bidding, teacher requisitioning through fund encumbrance, liquidation, purchase orders and payment - electronically. The terms of this agreement will also provide for ProSoft to be a licensed re-seller of eSchoolMall's easyPurchase and easyBid products. "ProSoft's financial and inventory management solutions are currently installed in nearly 100 school districts in the state of Pennsylvania, and many of these customers were looking for an e-procurement solution," said Scott Anderson, President, ProSoft Technologies, Inc. "Both eSchoolMall and ProSoft's products were designed for educators, by educators. Our partnership was a natural step." The interface will deliver a number of key benefits for K-12 school districts, including an end-to-end electronic paper trail, pre-encumbrance of funds, as well as a seamless, "same look and feel", procurement experience. Importantly, the interface eliminates the requirement for manual double entry - reducing errors, and saving time and money.

Computer Labs in West Philadelphia
The Center for Community Partnerships and AmeriCorps are working to Bridge the Digital Divide in West Philadelphia. Primary support for our project is provided through Seedco through the Corporation for National Service Now in our third year, Penn's Program to Bridge the Digital Divide consists of 17 AmeriCorps members who work with 30 additional work-study students, forming one unified team. Working together to create strong University-community partnerships, the Digital Divide team uses technology to improve the quality of life our immediate geographic area, the West Philadelphia community. The program conducts technological assessments to build computer labs for community use from donated and discarded machines. Additionally, Penn students work in local computer labs to support after school programs, teach youth and adult computer literacy classes, and also train members of the community how to instruct their own computer courses. We also provide technical support and curriculum development to classroom teachers, after-school coordinators, and communities of faith. Our four main program goals are:
1. Operate a computer refurbishment center on campus that connects older, usable technology to the community, including schools, non-profits, and communities of faith.

African Festivals in American Schools
African Festivals in American Schools has evolved out of Arthur Hall's years of experience (and discipline and technique) in transposing these traditional concepts to the concert stage and the classroom. The sense of community comes from meaningful dances, appropriate for each student's age and ability, adapted to express the reality that the school is, in fact, a coherent community, albeit one which perhaps never before experienced itself as an African village.

Here are my most memorable moments. Enjoy! "Our Future President."
Those are the exact words I said to Bill Bradley to get him to smile! In this event, Bill Bradley awarded me the 1988 Young Citizenship Award for my active involvement in community service. This photograph was taken during a reception at Brower Commons on the Rutgers University campus in New Brunswick. Notice how Senator Bradley towers over me! Of course, he is a former basketball star, but I have more headroom in cars. Bond. James Bond.
Never say never again! After I deliver my awareness program to United Nations representatives at their Special Session on Children, I am delighted at the opportunity to meet actor Roger Moore. Roger commends me on my continuing journey to educate children about disabilities. I was attending a New York City event where Roger Moore and Harry Belafonte were unveiling a statue in honor of Audrey Hepburn's lifetime contribution to UNICEF. Jumping from a plane!
In my skydiving experience, I give a twin thumbs-up for the camera at 120 mph. At this moment, I am in a free-fall at over two miles above southern N.J. With me is seasoned skydiving instructor Jason Gonzalas. On the western horizon is the city of Philadelphia; on the eastern horizon, Atlantic City! You can see both towns from this height!
