About the Foundation Annual Fund Athletic and Scholarship Programs ... Ways to Give Scholarships A principal function of the Foundation is the administration of a scholastic program through which the Foundation provides one year of post-high school education in certain high-quality schools and junior colleges to a limited number of strongly motivated and carefully selected young men and women who may need further academic preparation to assist them in qualifying for entrance into the Naval Academy. This program is supported and encouraged by the Superintendent of the Naval Academy and is approved by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Since 1944, the Foundation has assisted many fine candidates (over 2,500) with good leadership, scholastic, and athletic potential, who have evidenced a genuine interest in attending the Naval Academy, to prepare for service in the Navy or Marine Corps.

Dealing with the Federal Government
Congressman Weldon's offices are incredible resources to the public that are too often not fully utilized. Whether you have encountered serious problems in dealing with a federal agency or you have a simple question about the federal government or laws, Congressman Weldon's office is here to help. Are you having difficulty getting a Medicare claim paid? Is your monthly Social Security check a week late? Are you having difficulty obtaining your VA benefits? Do you need to obtain a passport immediately? Are you concerned about the status of your application for Naturalization? Did you not receive your tax refund? Have you lost your military service medals or discharge papers? Are you having difficulty with your mail service? Does your company, organization, or foundation need assistance in obtaining federal funds? Are you having problems paying your student loan? Do you need a voter registration form? Are you a veteran or a family member of a veteran who never received their service medals? If the answers to any of these questions are yes, you should call the Cogressman's District Office at 610-259-0700. Weldon's office assists thousands of individuals every year in dealing with the federal government on these and a wide variety of other issues. Other areas in which Congressman Weldon's office routinely assists local citizens include: obtaining overseas birth records; assistance with processing Social Security disability claims; information on Department of State travel advisories for individuals traveling overseas; and assistance with health and pension benefits for former federal employees. Congressman Weldon's office is also happy to provide a wide variety of information to constituents, ranging from an explanation of proposed legislation for Congress, to safety information on your child's bicycle, to information packs on a certain medical issue.

POLITICS:
  • CYB-VERSION : Last week the Pennsylvania state department of education rejected five of five cyber charter school applications. Under new provisions, cyber school proposals can only be approved by the state. Resubmission to the department or appealing to the Charter School Appeals Board is still an option for those applications that were denied. As this is the first round of charter school applications to come before Pennsylvania's new leadership, these rejections are a likely indication of its mindset towards the charter school movement.
