    On Thursday, March 6, the Assembly Speaker’s Task Force on State Budget Review presented its final recommendations at a Capitol press conference. Four of the Task Force’s more than 140 recommendations would drastically reduce the Wisconsin Arts Board and eliminate three of its programs. Budget Alert
    On February 18, 2003, Governor Jim Doyle delivered his Budget Address to the full legislature.     The Midwest Arts Conference brings the performing arts marketplace together to facilitate booking and touring plans, and to provide educational and performance opportunities.     Degas added $15 million, DIA says

    As the Michigan arts community jostles for position in state budget talks, the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau may provide a helping hand with its new report, "Degas and the Dance." The report says the Detroit Institute of Arts' exhibit brought $15 million into the local economy. (Detroit Free Press - April 8) ARTS BUDGET CRISIS: COLORADO - EDITORIAL - Keep minimum arts funding
    Colorado lawmakers should not let the curtain fall on the Colorado Council on the Arts.
    (Denver Post (CO) - March 28) ARTS BUDGET CRISIS: ALASKA - Lawmakers look to cut arts funding Some legislators are seeking to abolish the state's public art program, which has paid for projects like the big Tlingit totem poles in front of the Anchorage courthouse and the collection of Eskimo art and dolls in glass cases at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. (Alaska Daily News - April 4) ARTS BUDGET CRISIS: FLORIDA - State slashes art funds Gov. Jeb Bush in January recommended slashing more than 50 percent from last year's $27.9 million funding for the arts. If the Senate budget is adopted, Brevard will lose $595,262 in arts funding.
