US Department of Education, Blue Ribbon School New American High School Daily Bulletin Talk To Our Teachers Counselor's Corner Theatre Season W elcome to the Las Vegas Academy! Several differences exist between the Las Vegas Academy and conventional high schools ( Mission Statement. ) The most significant difference is centered on the bell schedule. Conventional high school have six periods a day spread out over six hours. However, the Academy student spends seven hours a day, attending eight periods. Those extra two periods are called 'blocks', spent in what is known as the student's 'major'. These 'majors' are comparable to college majors- the bulk of the students' studies will concentrate on that subject. In order to attend to Academy, a student must choose and successfully audition for a major. If the student has enough free electives in his schedule (which doesn't often happen until Junior year), he/she may audition for two majors. The audition takes place in several forms. For instance, International Studies majors have to pass to pass a proficiency test, whereas Theatre majors perform two one-minute contrasting monologues. Full information on audition requirements can be found here.

General Information Rozelle Creative and Performing Arts Elementary School occupies a historic building in midtown Memphis that dates back to 1918. Beginning with the 1979-80 school year, Rozelle became a Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) Optional School for students in kindergarten and grades one through six. While the majority of the students live in the neighborhood, others are now attending on optional transfers. The 1982-83 school year brought special recognition to the school. At that time the historic building, with its Jacobean style of architecture, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. In August of 1985, extensive renovation was begun on the building. This renovation was completed in the fall of 1986. Included in the facilities now are a movement education room, art room, conference room, science lab, computer lab, four additional classrooms on the first floor, and extended cafeteria facilities. The school-community relationship is strengthened by an active Parent-Teacher Association and School Leadership Team. This relationship is reinforced through the adoption of Rozelle School by First Tennessee Bank.

80. Welcome To Belmont Public Schools Administration
to arts education in the Belmont Public schools but that it will allow us to greatlyenrich our programs. William McManus Director of Fine performing arts.
http://www.belmont.k12.ma.us/admin/curriculum_teaching/curriculum_arts.html
The use of technology for instructional purposes has been steadily increasing in the area of the fine and performing arts. For many years, synthesizers, sequencers, amplifiers, sound control boards and lighting control boards have been used in the areas of music and theatre. In the last several years, the department has begun using technology such as computers, digital cameras and flatbed scanners. The use of computers in the music program is currently being explored. Synthesizers and sequencers have been used to teach keyboard skills and fundamentals of music composition at Chenery Middle School for over ten years. Sara Houk was one of the first music teachers in Massachusetts to incorporate technology into the general music curriculum. This technology has also been used to teach adult education classes. Mr. McLellan has used computer technology to create digital portfolios of students? performance skills in grade five through eight. Art teachers at Chenery Middle School and Belmont High School have been using digital cameras, scanners, and computers to create Web sites to display student artwork. The use of computer technology in photography is now being explored at the high school level. Students involved in the millennium mural project are using scanners and the computer program, Photoshop, to manipulate photographic images. Students are creating a photography mural for the wall along the high school auditorium. Eventually, we hope to expand the high school photography program to include a course in digital photography.
