Philippines Geography The archipelago forms the eastern boundary of the South China Sea. There are 10 major islands, with Luzon the largest. Metropolitan Manila is to the south of Luzon, while to the north are the rice terraces and hilly areas cultivated by minority groups. Many of the higher points in the country are active volcanoes which can wreak havoc, while in Bohol are found the strange 'chocolate' hills, so called because of their summertime colour, and whose formation is still a puzzle to geologists.
Cebu has the 2nd major city and major port, also called Cebu, it is very popular, especially with Japanese tourists. Samar north of Cebu, was a communist hotbed until President Ramos [see history] legalised communism and brought some stability - it is the poorest of the islands.

PHILIPPINES GEOGRAPHY
AND PERFORMING ARTS
My research is about Philippine Performing Arts. Philippine arts are not really mentioned in art or history classes, so I am glad to have a chance to present my country's culture . I introduce Philippine geography to make it easier to understand and know the Philippines. The Philippines is located between the Pacific Ocean and Celebes Sea. The Philippines consist of approximately 7,000 islands. The main islands are Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. We also have 86+ dialects which means that even though we live in one country, we do not understand each other's native language. There is a language conflict. But since our second language is English, we can communicate in a common language. Luzon is located in the northern part of the Philippines. Luzon is the most important island because all the resources such as jobs, museums, businesses, and higher education are there. Most people prefer to live in Luzon. Most of the opportunities to become successful are there. It does not mean that Luzon is a perfect place. It has become overpopulated, the air is polluted, there is a water shortage, and it has become harder for the college-educated to find a job. Opportunities have been taken away, and many people turn to prostitution, drug dealing, and smuggling to survive. Some people, especially those who are from wealthy families and are well-educated, prefer to work abroad. According to National Geographic, The Philippines is one of the poorest countries in the world because we have poor leaders and educated Filipinos go overseas.

Introduction [Top of Page] Background: The Philippines were ceded by Spain to the US in 1898 following the Spanish-American War. They attained their independence in 1946 after being occupied by the Japanese in World War II. The 21-year rule of Ferdinand MARCOS ended in 1986 when a widespread popular rebellion forced him into exile. In 1992, the US closed down its last military bases on the islands. A quarter-century-old guerrilla war with Muslim separatists on the island of Mindanao, which had claimed 120,000 lives, ended with a treaty in 1996. Geography The official count of islands that form the Republic of the Philippines is 7,107 islands. However, of these islands, only 2,000 are inhabited. The biggest islands are Luzon and Mindanao which cover roughly 66% of the country's total land area of 307, 055 sq. km. From north to south, the nation's archipelago stretches for 1,840 km while spanning 1,100 km from east to west. This island nation can be divided into four main groups. The first group is Luzon, the largest and northernmost island, which is also the site for the country's capital, Manila. Mindanao, the second largest island at the other end of the map together with Sulu form the second group. The third group is the tightly packed island group called the Visayas, which is made up of seven major islands namely Panay, Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, Samar and Masbate. Finally, to the west, lies the province of Palawan with over 1,700 islands.

Sexual relationships in the Philippines

If you are traveling to the Philippines, you may be interested in sexual relationships with locals, and no, I do not mean the services of prostitutes or other commercial providers. While you can meet Filipinas or Filipinos interested in sex accidentally, the chances of success are not particularly high if you are there only for a limited period of time. On the other hand, Filipinas and Filipinos often are sexually attracted to foreign people. For young Filipinas, it is chic to have a Western boyfriend. So, there must be a trick to overcome the time-consuming "accidental", and to link more effectively the sexual interests of foreign visitors with those of locals. Try the Internet. Or, more to the point: try www.AdultfriendsFinder.com

Bohol must have been developed from the magmatic tectonic mechanism which resulted from the underthrusting of the southwest Philippine Plate east of Samar and Surigao.
The Alicia Schist, the oldest known rock formation in the island, is inferred to be part of the Bohol crustal rocks before plate interactions. All the succeding igneous extrusive and intrusive events in Bohol are the results of these resurging interactions.
Ongoing erosion, transport and sedimentation continue to accumulate marine and terrestrial deposits in the Bohol basin.
