SCOPE
This overview deals with the photographic collections in the custody of the Prints and Photographs Division and related books and serials in the general collections.
SIZE
The photographic collections, including photographic prints, negatives, and transparencies, make up an estimated 13 million items. These collections include architectural photographs and negatives. The Library has over 17,000 books and serials on photography.
GENERAL RESEARCH STRENGTHS
The Library's general research strength in this area is in the pictorial documentation of American history, of the achievements and concerns of the peoples of the United States, and of the history of the cities, landscape, and the built environment of the United States from 1839 (the year of photography's introduction) to the present. Secondarily, the Library has established strength in the documentation of historical events, individuals, and trends outside of the United States with emphasis on those having an important impact or influence upon American history and government, or having a significant bearing on American foreign policy, presence, or national interests abroad. Additionally the Library's collections serve as an important resource on the history and uses of photography in the United States from 1845 to the present. The photographic serials contain photogravures and albumin prints from many late 19th- and early 20th-century photographers.

General Book Collection
M ATTHEW Vassar's original plans for the college for women which he chartered in 1861 included a cabinet for paintings and sculpture among its facilities, and instruction in aesthetics as part of the curriculum. To this purpose, on June 6, 1864 Vassar purchased for the college from the Albany minister and art collector Elias Lyman Magoon a substantial art collection as well as a library of over 1,000 volumes on art and architecture. This foundational book collection has been maintained to support the curriculum of the Art Department so that today it is one of the truly exceptional college art book collections in the country, consisting of over 55,000 volumes whose records may be accessed via the Vassar College Libraries Online Catalog . Included are monographs, periodicals, exhibition catalogs, and other works related to the art and architectural history of Europe, the United States, China and Japan. In recent years, the scope of the collection has expanded to cover African, Native American, Pre-Columbian, and Middle Eastern subjects. B ooks in the Art Library general collection are divided by size, with octavo and folio size books shelved in Stacks II and III

73. Shelburne Museum | The Museum | Buildings/Collections | General Store
The first level recreates a late 19th-century general store. The building's secondstory contains collections of medical equipment, tools and furnishings
http://www.shelburnemuseum.org/htm/museum/buildings_collections/buildings/genera
The General Store was constructed in 1840 in nearby Shelburne Center, where it served as the village post office for years. Its primary Greek Revival feature is its front-gable orientation, emphasized by a multi-paned triangular window above the second story.
In 1952, the building was moved intact to the Museum on a specially laid railroad track. The first level re-creates a late 19th-century general store. Fully stocked shelves display the variety of goods formerly available for purchase, while smaller adjoining rooms offer a variety of community services. These include a post office, barber shop and a tap room. A 19th-century apothecary shop is housed in a wing added to the building after it was moved to the Museum grounds.
The building's second story contains collections of medical equipment, tools and furnishings spanning the first half of the 20th-century. Re-created settings include a dentist's laboratory and examining room and the offices of an eye, ear, nose and throat physician.

GENERAL INFORMATION All our jewels are made by hand in our workshop in a limited quantity and guaranteed by our hallmark VE106, therefore it may occur that not all of them are avilable. They all differ one from another, and this makes them absolutely charming. We also can create your personal jewel, the one you have always dreamt of, but you have never found.
The price of each item varies according to the gems, weight and realisation time; it might happen for instance, that a blackamoor brooch is produced with different gems from the model you see on this site, and this can change the price.
We do not make mass-production, each one of our jewels is the result of an original idea and design, and is therefore very different from an industrial product; this is for you the guarantee that you own a really unique object, an original Venetian hand-made jewel. You just have to tell us via e-mail the names of the jewels you choose, and we will send you availability and prices; if the object you choose is not immediately available, you can order it; the realisation time is about 30 days and the product has to be prepaid. All our jewels are signed and identified by a guarantee certificate. Cellular phone +39 0347 453 2737.
