Twentieth-century Poetry in English
Nothing that is worth doing can be achieved in our lifetime; therefore we must be saved by hope. Nothing which is true or beautiful or good makes complete sense in any immediate context of history; therefore we must be saved by faith. Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone; therefore we must be saved by love. (Reinhold Niebuhr) Motsuji Temple, Hiraizumi. Photograph taken by David Leong. From Japan.JPG CD-ROM ( Walnut Creek I've collected Internet information relating to 157 poets , for 11 of whom I've created my own pages, and for the rest of whom a large index page, 'Poet Links', which adds some new entries each month; also I've created a page of related links: My Poet Pages Poet Links Related Links If you are searching for a poem , my tips might be of help to you. National organization based in Media, Pennsylvania, that strives to promote poetry and the literary arts in communities. Venues, schedules, contests, and submission and general information about Mad Poets Review.
http://www.madpoetssociety.com/
MAD POETS SOCIETY
The Mad Poets Society began in 1987, and has grown from humble roots and a handful of poets at Media Borough Hall in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, to over 100 members in six states. It is an organization of poets and writers who have joined together for camaraderie and critique with heart, to celebrate the creative soul and to promote the literary arts. Among our goals is the desire to bring poetry and the appreciation of the spoken word to surrounding communities, and to foster a supportive, nurturing atmosphere to promote individual growth. We offer an outlet for artistic energy and interests other than the workday world, and offer opportunities and forums for new poets to express themselves in an encouraging atmosphere. We come from all walks of life: our members are teachers, brick-layers, lawyers, construction workers, secretaries, accountants, everyone with common link: the love of words.
The Mad Poets Society has obtained an "affiliate" status with the Pennsylvania Poetry Society and the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, which means that anyone who joins the Mad Poets Society will also become an Affiliate Member of the PA Poetry Society, the state level of organization & the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, the organization at the national level. Affiliate membership of those organizations entitles you to receive quarterly "Strophes" newsletters from the national group, and quarterly PA Poetry Society newsletters from the state level, as well, 12 annual newsletters in all, covering local, statewide and nationwide poetry events & competitions. You will also receive a collection of poetry by students who have won the Pa Poetry Society Annual "Pegasus" Competition. (See the "Note" Section at the bottom of the Mad Poets Membership Application for full details.
