Bridgeton Christian School
History
Bridgeton Christian School opened for students in 1946. We are one of the oldest independent Christian schools in the country. Today, we serve students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Our purpose is to combine a strong academic program with the values and truths taught in the Scriptures. We are members of both the Middle Atlantic and New Jersey Associations of Christian Schools.
Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative word of God; We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His Virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential;

Home Basics Lessons Printables ... Email Lessons Our lessons have changed somewhat since I first started posting them to the email list in July 2000. The first dozen or two lessons were loosely based on two wonderful preschool curriculums: Early Education at Home and Before Five in A Row Before Five in A Row book list HERE . However, the later lessons reflected more of a weekly theme approach to learning. So the lessons have now taken on a whole different focus - themes! I have found so many wonderful online resources, there is no way I could duplicate what's already been done. So instead, I have done the leg-work for you: I will compile weekly lessons with a central theme and will include links to many sites where you can find information regarding the week's lesson. From time to time, part of the lesson will actually be my own original ideas! The lessons I post, will be what I'm doing with my own children that week. I will be adding more lessons, as I have time to post them. Join our

From Melodies to Motor Skills By Betsy Rubiner

Des Moines Register article
November 16, 1997 Growing Body of Research Parents are increasingly aware of the growing body of research showing how music instruction can, among other things, help children develop their motor skill, build their self-confidence and increase oral and memory skills, music teachers report.
Yet most parents, the teachers say, also want their children to learn about music for music's sake.
Lynn Rupp of Des Moines, Iowa, enrolled her three children in piano lessons with her childhood teacher - Jan Johnson - because she wanted them to have the same opportunity to learn how to play and appreciate music. But her children have the extra advantage of the Suzuki method, said Rupp, which "seems like a lot more fun" than the more traditional why she learned piano as a child.
Young is quick to not that " traditional teachers" - whose private lessons may involve music from a basic primer that teaches note recognition, basic theory and physical coordination - aren't as traditional as they used to be. Now they often use different techniques to teach children to understand musical concepts as well as how to play music pieces, Young said.
She attributes the strong local demand for private music lessons, in part, to inadequate music training in the public schools.

... Home Sonshine Preschool is a top quality teaching school designed to aid in the growth of preschool children spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially. At Sonshine Preschool, we believe learning should be fun! The children are taught by experienced, qualified teachers. A low child-teacher ratio is always maintained. Our teachers go to great lengths to make your child feel loved and secure while in their care. Classroom activities include Bible lessons, application stories, art, music, phonics and science. Learning center time is structured to help children learn numbers, colors, shapes, patterns, and manipulative activities to aid in the development of fine and gross motor skills. Before graduating, students are evaluated on kindergarten readiness skills for their parents' information. Physical education is an added feature of our curriculum. Learning how to play with other children through physical activity is very important at the preschool age. Our Physical Education instructor teaches various games, exercises and activities. She also teaches locomotor (hopping, skipping, jumping and sliding) skills, as well as sports-related activities.
