PyAcad 0.4.1
Python Extension for Autocad/Intellicad
Autocad/Intellicad Extension for Python
This Project has the goal to make Python available as a scripting language for the CAD programs Autocad and Intellicad. Autocad currently has APIs for several languages, including C, C++, Lisp (though Autolisp is much simpler than the standard Common Lisp), VBA (through COM), and Java (officially through COM, but a direct interface is available through activities similar to this project). Theoretically, the COM interface would make any COM aware language (including Python) capable of talking to Autocad, but in practise this approach has shown to be unreliable. Intellicad shares a subset of the Lisp and C APIs with Autocad, and a VBA extension is available as well. The parts of the Autocad ADS C API that pyacad uses are completely present in Intellicad (named SDS there), so that we are able to expose exactly the same functionality for both programs. Pyacad is currently in the state of "mostly implemented".

Read OnlineSafari Search this book on Safari: Only This Book All of Safari Code Fragments only by Mark Hammond Andy Robinson An excerpt from Chapter 20: GUI Development, from Python Programming on Win32 In this chapter, we examine the various options for developing graphical user interfaces (GUIs) in Python. We will look in some detail at three of the GUI toolkits that operate on the Windows platform: Tkinter, PythonWin, and wxPython. Each of these GUI toolkits provide a huge range of facilities for creating user interfaces, and to completely cover any of these toolkits is beyond the scope of this single chapter. Each framework would need its own book to do it justice. Our intent in this chapter is to give you a feel for each of these GUI frameworks, so you can understand the basic model they use and the problems they were designed to address. We take a brief tour of each of these toolkits, describing their particular model and providing sample code along the way. Armed with this information, you can make an informed decision about which toolkit to use in which situation, have a basic understanding of how your application will look, and where it will run when finished.

Python Programming on Win32
Rezensionen
"Python Programming on Win32 zeroes in on the strengths of the Python programming language for the Windows platform. If you would like to use Python on Windows with Office 2000, this book is a perfect choice forgetting startedr While Python's initial habitat may be UNIX, Python Programming on Win32 shows that this powerful and increasingly popular object- oriented language may find its next home on Windows. Provided you have some previous exposure to the language, this book is an excellent resource for using Python in a Windows setting." Richard Dragan, amazon.co.uk "a valuable reference that adds to your arsenal of development tools...This is (or should be) one of the classic O'Reilly books." Robert Altena, Algorithmica Japonica, Nov 2000 "This is a great book written by the authority in the field, Mark Hammond. It is orthogonal to all of the other Python books out there, in that it doesn't waste much time going over the same old basics, but rather gives in-depth coverage of Windows related subjects. It is a quality book on quality paper from a quality guy. At $35, this book is a bargain for anyone using Python on Windows." March 21, 2003: Byline Hiatus, and Renaming
For reasons detailed on my personal site I have stopped working on Byline. There may still be small fixes committed to CVS from time to time but don't expect any big changes; anything that is broken now probably will remain that way for a while. I'll try to put a tarball here in a couple of days, too. In other news I have decided to rename things: "Byline" will now refer to Pyrite BlogAuthor (it is, after all, a reasonable name for a client-side blog tool too) and the server side will be referred to as "Byline Server" or something along those lines. The CVS modules will remain the same, for now.

Python Programming
X444.3 Computer Science (2) Python is an Internet and systems programming language that is rapidly gaining worldwide popularity in today's fast-paced software development environment. Although initially known for building Web and common gateway interface (CGI) applications, Python is also known for the rapid prototyping of networking, database, XML, and graphic user interface (GUI) applications. Python is interpreted, interactive and inherently object-oriented in nature, featuring an easy-to-learn syntax that is clear and concise. It combines the power of a compiled language with the simplicity, low maintenance, portability and short development time of an interpreted scripting language. In addition to the many versions of UNIX (e.g., Solaris, Linux, *BSD), you will find Python available on Win32, MacOS, OS/2, Amiga, AS/400, and even Palm, PS2, plus many others. Python is often compared to Perl, JavaScript, Tcl, C++, and Java, and in many situations, presents a viable and advantageous alternative because of its ease-of-use, rapid development time, and that it does not discourage group collaboration. Python is also used in place of or in addition to many common network and system administration tasks typically written in UNIX shell languages.
