Quebec Has Culture?
Well, by now everyone has heard Diane Lemieux's remarks about how Ontario has no culture of its own. And what was our provinces response? "Oh, yes we do! We have theatre and we have vineyards (personally, I'm not quite sure how that constitutes culture, but there you have it)! We have Margaret Atwood and Michael Ondaatje!" Well, of course, all of these things are true. But you know what is more true? We are pathetic!!! Why do we always accept the bait? What the hell does Ontario (and by that, you understand that I mean Toronto) have to prove to Quebec?!!! Since when does Quebec have culture? The fact that you speak a different language hardly makes you cultured. Yes, we've all seen the statistics. Quebeckers watch their own TV, while Ontarians watch American TV. Well, so what? Watching "Watatatow" hardly makes you cultured! The whole world watches "Road to Avonlea" (which despite its supposed east-coast locale, is a Toronto production). And quite frankly, Michel Tremblay is boring. David Gilmour, on the other hand, is not! So rather than us bring Ms. Lemieux here this summer to have her tour the Niagara region (which lets face it people, ain't gonna prove a thing), let's demand that they start making some decent culture of their own before they start making ridiculous statements about our province!!!!
Quite frankly, the only decent culture that I can think of that has come out of Quebec is the work of a certain Jewish-Anglo who I'm certain Madam Pur-Laine Lemieux would be uncomfortable promoting! The downfall of English Canada will be the fact that it listens to Quebec at all. I mean seriously folks, if someone came up to you and said "you're ugly and stupid" would your response be "no I am not I have an average IQ and I believe my appearance to be not bad at all". No! You'd say "Shut up! If I wanted to hear your opinion, I would have asked!"

The Magog / Orford region is located in the southwestern part of Quebec . It is approximately 92% French-speaking even if situated no more than a 20-minute drive to the US border. The province of Quebec is officially unilingual French. It has inherited its language and culture from France over four hundred years ago and both have flourished and developed to the point of becoming an integral component of the overall Canadian identity. Your total immersion experience will put you in direct contact with a typical modern French-speaking Quebec family who work, play and communicate entirely in French. This is a great opportunity to savor the French culture in North America while being enrolled in one of our customized private language courses or simply enjoying the warm hospitality of your host family and seeing the sights. Other exciting destinations arealso at hand: Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, the New England states. Remember, total immersion programs in the French-Canadian culture are available year round because our region is a four-season tourist destination!

Textes indépendantistes
