Equality is simultaneously the greatest accomplishment and worst failure of America. It is the place where idealism and reality come to blows in American culture. Despite the glossy veneer of "political correctness" which has been painted over the rust and corrosion of centuries of racism and classism, the enduring American necessity for a social "other" has chosen working class whites as the focal scapegoat of our time. This site explores the general treatment of working class whites in the media comics, literature, film and television; dealing in depth with the areas of religion, race relations, work and lifestyle in defining working class whites as a unique social culture.

Dear Colleagues, Welcome you to the Web site of the St. Petersburg School of Religion and Philosophy (SRPh). The St. Petersburg School of Religion and Philosophy is an educational institution established in the early 1990s whose mission is to educate both Russian and foreign students in the liberal arts, (particularly those which were not addressed by the Soviet system.) As part of this mission (goal), the School conducts various educational exchange programs. Many of you are interested in Russian culture courses, and your institute may have members who need to acquire more knowledge of a second language, which will greatly enrich the potential and quality of academic life. SRPh offers courses in culture, history, literature, art, religion and philosophy, Russian Language (for beginners and advanced), together with very attractive entertainment and activity programs in Russia's most beautiful city - St. Petersburg. All participants will have the opportunity to explore the sights and churches of St. Petersburg and its environs, to meet students and professors from the SRPh, to be involved in intellectual exchanges, and to visit other cities of Russia. In addition, it is possible to customize participants' programs to include the particular cultural activities which interest them. To study abroad - and in particular, in St. Petersburg - is less expensive than you may think. For more information on our programs, please contact us at the e-mail address shown below.

Are you not irritated by the news reporting on religious confrontations in Northern Ireland, by the Israel/Palestine `holy land' confrontations, fundamentalist killings, past and future holocausts, human rights violations, e.g. Indians beaten into Christianization equalled with civilization (as still in use for Canadian Indians, see internet report Karen Cunningham/Canada forum Education), ABC warfare proliferation among irresponsible politicians and religious leadership - all consequences of immature dogmatic ideas about religion. Religion means helping the people develop their religiousness along universal moral standards of ethics built on own moral conscience, not on the long-past authoritarian moral of God, a group, or state. If it is built on your own God-gift conscience, there will be no way anymore for people obeying to kill when ordered so by a so-called fake higher authority. It assembles and lends its terms and viewpoints to a variety of intellectual concerns in contemporary thought. Eros and a common concern for soul, image and pathology draw individuals from diverse geographical and intellectual areas into rapport with each other for the re-visioning of their ideas and their worlds." Archetypal Psychology “is not a theoretical system emanating from the thought of one person for whom it is named, then identifying with a small group, becoming a school, and moving into the world in the manner of Freudian or Jungian psychologies; nor does it emerge from a particular clinic, laboratory, or city giving it its name. “ James Hiillman Archetypal Psychology, A Brief Account p. 5

Laws concerning religion.
Virginia General Assembly. 1619.
The first representative assembly in the New World convened in Jamestown in 1619. Under a new charter, Government of the Virginia colony passed from the council in England to the colonial governor, council of state, and a general assembly. Martial law was abolished in the colony and each settlement was permitted to send representatives to the legislative assembly in Jamestown. The assembly first met on July 30, 1619, and included the governor, six councillors, and twenty burgesses. In six days of meeting the assembly passed numerous laws regulating life in the colony. One regulation prohibited the selling or giving of any Engish dog to the Indians. Several regulations dealt with the practice of religion and morality and established penalities for various impious or immoral acts. Although not a puritan colony, the influence of puritan thought is reflected in the Virginia laws in the concern to regulate morality and in the combined use of church and secular power to extirpate certain vices. The regulations also provided for an assessment by the Church for "excesse in apparell"-including the apparel of wives. All Ministers in the Colony shall once a year, namely, in the moneth of Marche, bring to the Secretary of Estate a true account of all Christenings, burials and marriages, upon paine, if they faill, to be censured for their negligence by the Governor and Counsell of Estate; likewise, where there be no ministers, that the comanders of the place doe supply the same duty.

Some Reasons Why Humanists
Reject The Bible
by Joseph C. Sommer Introduction This article sets forth some reasons why Humanists assert that the Bible is not the word of God. Humanists are convinced that the Bible was written solely by human beings who lived in an age that was ignorant, superstitious, and cruel. Humanists also believe that, because the writers of the Bible were people who lived in an unenlightened and barbaric era, they produced a book which contains many erroneous statements and harmful teachings. A lot of criticism is directed at Humanists because they hold those positions about the Bible. Some critics of the Humanist philosophy go so far as to say that Humanists are evil or are agents of the devil. Hopefully, this article will provide some clarification as to the real reasons that Humanists have the views that they do about the Bible. Importance of the Subject The importance of this subject results from the fact that in the United States the Bible is pervasively hailed as a divinely inspired book. Today, the television and radio media often feature programs that praise the Bible as being the holy and infallible word of God. Religious organizations that produce those programs distribute vast quantities of books, magazines, pamphlets, and other literature. The programs and literature promote the viewpoint that, as televangelist Pat Robertson has said: "The Bible...is a workable guidebook for politics, business, families and all the affairs of mankind."
