    REXX
(Redirected from REXX programming language The REXX (Restructured Extended Executor) programming language was invented by Michael Cowlishaw at IBM. It is a programming language that was designed to be easy to learn. It was also designed to be a macro or scripting language for any system. Thus, it is a precursor to TCL and Python REXX is a free-form language with only one datatype. The user never has to worry about converting between datatypes. Only one data type, the "stem" is used. It is essentially a hashtable REXX looks a lot like PL/1 Newer variants exist:
    • NetRexx - which compiles to java byte codes.

    Hello,
I'm experiencing a problem in programming with rexx and DB2. I receive an -104 during the prepare statement. In the manual "SQL programming with Host variables" under the section "Using host variables in REXX applications that use SQL" it is stated that the SQL/REXX interface performs substitution in compound variables before passing statements to the database manager. If I create a small sample like this (I ommited the definitions to stdout) : - Sample program STMTBUF = 'SELECT * FROM CHADL.CHPTYT1' ADDRESS '*EXECSQL' 'PREPARE S1 FROM :STMTBUF' ADDRESS '*EXECSQL' 'DECLARE C1 CURSOR FOR S1' ADDRESS '*EXECSQL' 'OPEN C1' SIGNAL OFF ERROR DO UNTIL SQLCODE EXECSQL 'FETCH C1 INTO :A.PRODFAM , :A.PRODTYP , :A.EXT_D

I am curious what programming environments are available for REXX under OS/2. When
