There are thousands and thousands of scholarships available to students through internet searches and scholarship guides, but no one student will every qualify for all of them. Even if one person were to qualify for all of them, though, most students at UC Berkeley probably don't have the time to apply for each and every one. For this reason, a well-defined scholarship search can be invaluable to students looking for some extra money to fund their education, research proposal, or community service project. The best and cheapest way to run a scholarship search is to find a good, reliable scholarship search engine (like the Scholarship Connection

MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS
Individuals, foundations, and corporations have established and endowed a limited number of merit scholarships at Duke University to recognize outstanding students. Many of these scholarships are based solely upon achievement, while others consider financial need as a determining factor. The criteria for each scholarship have been determined by the benefactor.
No separate application is required for Duke University merit scholarships except for music scholarships. All applicants are considered for every appropriate scholarship. Students selected to receive a merit scholarship will be informed of the award in early April.
While Duke is able to offer some merit scholarships, the university's primary commitment is to provide need-based aid in order to enable all qualified students, regardless of financial circumstance, to receive a high-quality education. For this reason, and because Duke's applicant pool is highly competitive, the number of available merit scholarships is limited. Students are encouraged to investigate local and other external scholarship sources such as business, religious, civic, and fraternal organizations.
