BC Dive Adventures is a PADI affiliated store offering scuba training courses designed and standardized by PADI. These courses are some of the easiest and perhaps the safest training programs available worldwide. And with the standardization of training, you are assured that your training course is the same worldwide.
PADI is responsible for an estimated 85% of the divers trained worldwide every year. Despite the increasing numbers of divers trained by PADI annually, the rate of diving accidents continues to drop every year. This means that if anything, given the increasingly growing number of divers trained by PADI annually, PADI training is responsible for making diving safer.*
BC Dive Performance Based Programs
All of our programs are performance based. What does this mean? In earlier times, training was military affiliated. That meant that divers in training had to complete vigorous physical tests and sometimes insane training exercises before they could become divers. PADI introduced performance based training to address the simple question of how does militaristic training make a person a better diver?
Our Dive Trainers We have Master Scuba Diver Trainers on staff who can teach you everything from basic open water diving to the divemaster course and everything in between including specialty courses like wreck diving, equipment specialist, nitrox, deep diving, and practical courses like medic first aid and DAN O

If you've never been diving, you're in for a treat! Spend half a day with us and find out what it's all about. This is an excellent choice if you're on a short or busy vacation schedule, or you want to experience diving with a minimum investment of time and money. The Discover Scuba package is a half-day charter, and includes two shallow (to 40 feet) introductory boat dives, each at a different dive site. There are no study guides or tests to worry about - we'll teach you what you need to know with a few quick skill lessons before we enter the water. Each dive is planned to last 45 minutes. An instructor will closely supervise your dives, and there will never be more than 3 other divers with your instructor. If you fall in love with diving (and we think you will), you and your instructor may elect to credit your Discover Scuba dive experience toward your PADI Open Water Diver certification.

Information
from Your Family Doctor
Scuba Diving Safety
What is recreational scuba diving? Recreational scuba diving is defined as pleasure diving to a depth of 130 feet without decompression stops. Several scuba-certifying agencies offer training for divers, from beginners to experts. Three of the agencies are the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) and Scuba Schools International (SSI). Basic classes involve classroom instruction and training pools and open-water settings. The most popular courses last from 4 to 8 weeks. What are the most common problems of scuba diving? The most common medical problems are simple middle ear "squeezes." Squeezes cause pain in your ears. The pain is caused by the difference in pressure between the air spaces of your ears and mask and higher water pressure as you go deeper into the water. Squeezes that affect the inner ear or sinuses are less common. Cuts, scrapes and other injuries to the arms and legs can be caused by contact with fish and other marine animals, certain species of coral and hazards such as exposed sharp metal on wrecks or fishing line. What dangerous medical conditions are possible when I am diving?
