Fashion
London College of Fashion
London College of Fashion have offered a variety of study abroad programs since the 1980s, and have alumni from over 60 US colleges. The programs have been carefully designed to encourage creativity but also ensure that study is underpinned with field trips to museums and galleries, as well as historical, cultural and design courses which compliment the unique combination of specialist fashion courses on offer. A typical week will include structured lectures or workshop activities, interspersed with independent research and private study. All the Semester Study Abroad Programs are based on the US semester and academic credit systems. Students receive support from the Study Abroad Director and administrator, and participate in a tutorial program throughout the semester. Course Content
Students can participate in the program for one semester (either Fall or Spring) or can extend their studies to two semester or full year programs. Students follow a program in which three classes are mandatory, and can then choose up to 5 further elective classes. There is the opportunity to participate in the fashion internship program, during the semester, or as a post semester or free-standing option. Students studying for two semesters will usually select an internship during their second semester.
Students are offered the opportunity to visit Paris with a French-speaking staff member on a Paris Fashion Trail, for five days during which they visit a variety of museums and art galleries and compare various aspects of the British and French fashion industries. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the fashion internship program, during the semester or as a post semester or free-standing option. Students studying for two semesters will usually select an internship during their second semester.
