Administration for Native Americans
The Administration for Native Americans (ANA) promotes the goal of social and economic self-sufficiency of American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and other Native American Pacific Islanders, including Native Samoans. Self-sufficiency is that level of development at which a Native American community can control and internally generate resources to provide for the needs of its members and meet its own economic and social goals. Social and economic underdevelopment is the paramount obstacle to the self-sufficiency of Native American communities and families.
Administration on Developmental Disabilities
The Administration on Developmental Disabilities grants support programs that protect the rights and promote the self-sufficiency of Americans with developmental disabilities and their families. Funds help state governments, local communities, and the private sector to integrate these people socially and economically into mainstream society.
Children's Bureau
The Bureau provides grants to states, tribes and communities to operate a range of child welfare services including child protective services (child abuse and neglect), family preservation and support, foster care, adoption assistance and independent living.

RURAL DEVELOPMENT - SOUTH DAKOTA
The Rural Utilities Service (RUS) administers a water and wastewater loan and grant program to improve the quality of life and promote economic development in rural America. At the State and local levels, the program is administered by field offices of Rural Development. RUS is coordinating the Water 2000 initiative. Water And Waste Disposal Loans
The purpose of this program is to develop water and waste disposal systems, including solid waste disposal and storm drainage, in rural areas and towns with a population of 10,000 or less. Funds are available to public entities, such as municipalities, counties, special-purpose districts, and Indian tribes. In addition, funds may be made available to corporations operated on a not-for-profit basis. Priority will be given to public entities in areas with less than 5,500 people to restore a deteriorating water supply, or to improve, enlarge, or modify a water facility or an inadequate waste facility. Also, preference will be given to requests which involve the merging of small facilities and those serving low-income communities. In addition, applicants must:
  • Be unable to obtain needed funds from other sources at reasonable rates and terms.

Financial Economics at Colorado State University The Department of Economics offers a field in Financial Economics that is jointly taught by faculty in the department of Economics and the Department of Finance and Real Estate. When combined with the field of monetary economics and financial institutions, this provides a solid foundation for students wishing to specialize in financial economics, financial institutions, and domestic and international monetary policy.
Broadly, finance is that field of economics that addresses both time and uncertainty. A basic knowledge of the theory of securities markets and asset valuation, as well as its relation to general equilibrium theory, is essential to understanding market economies. The concepts essential to understanding financial exchange are also germane to such other fields as economic development, macroeconomics, and industrial organization. To a much greater degree than some other fields in economics, however, concepts and methods in asset valuation have transformed the practical conduct of financial trading. Successful investment decisions by financial traders and capital budgeting decisions by government agencies and business firms rely on the concepts and principles of finance. Acquiring the ability to understand and formulate financial arguments is, consequently, useful for both academic and applied purposes.

There is currently a system-wide articulation between the six state universities and the four technical institutes. Many courses can be transferred directly. A student who needs information about transferability of specific courses should consult the registrar or the curriculum specialist, for the status of these courses can change. Also, some universities have historically accepted equivalency credits from Lake Area Tech graduates of certain programs. The Lake Area Tech graduate can, of course, negotiate individually with many universities in this context.
