EARNING HIGH SCHOOL CREDITS WITH TRISMS
When homeschooled students reach ninth grade, parents are confronted with a
whole new set of issues that have some urgency of resolutionif only for
peace of mind and confidence to proceed through the final four years of
homeschooling. For those of us who are geared toward unit studies and
"crazy-quilt" curriculum, there is a strong temptation to switch to a
single-publisher curriculum, join a satellite school, or enroll the children
in public/private school. This article is written to address the issues
of credits, diplomas, and college prep work as it relates to the use of
TRISMS curriculum. The TRISMS company does not grant credits, keep
transcrips, or issue diplomas. We provide an excellent program that will prepare your student for life beyond highschoolwhatever that may be. More and more homeschooling families are recognizing the value of research-and-analysis based programs to help develop the critical thi! nking and organizational skills necessary for college and/or life.

Success! He will experience mastering new exercises, performing them in front of a group, hearing the applause and praise of his peers. He will share words and ideas with ready and appreciative listeners, enjoy tasting poems and stories, relish taking part in exciting dramas. Mostly he will feel a growing sense of pride in his abilities. Yes. One of our main goals is helping to develop your child's mastery and appreciation of the English language. We aim to open the imagination and develop creative thinking. Reading and speaking good literature, especially poetry, is one of the most powerful ways of doing this. Early experience of poetry opens a door to some of the fundamentals in skillful and creative language use, makes children receptive to the rhythms and tones of English, to the play of sounds and words and the structuring of meaning. Even very young children pick up on this and so reading, comprehension and writing is easier. He should! We enjoy what we are good at and we aim to show every student what it feels like to be at your best. Drama is tremendous fun and allows us to take part as much as we feel comfortable to. When we are under-confident we get lost in the crowd until we feel ready to try out a leadership role. Most children leave class with big smiles on their faces. If you are aware that your child has not enjoyed himself pass this on to his teacher immediately. She will want to deal with whatever the problem might be and get him right back on course.

ENGLISH PROGRAM GRADE SIX ENGLISH ENGLISH 6 The primary goal of the sixth grade English Program is to promote effective communication skills. The three basic strands of the program are writing, language study, and speaking and listening. The writing strand consists of three components: pre-writing, writing, and rewriting. The language strand focuses on sentence structure, types of sentences and parts of speech. The speaking and listening strand develops active, effective discourse in formal and informal situations. The opportunity to extend and showcase their writing talents is available to the students through the grade six authoring program. GRADE SEVEN ENGLISH 71-ENGLISH 7 This course is intended for self-reliant, motivated, well-organized, learners who have reading and writing skills of a higher proficiency than grade level. Students will read four to five required novels that stress survival and building self-esteem. Literature units also include short stories, science fiction, poetry, and drama. Discussion and composition topics are related to the themes of the texts and units. The literary techniques of writers are studied and practiced. Process writing is the standard for rough drafts and final copies of composition. Vocabulary and grammar skills are taught within the context of their usage. One half-hour of homework, five nights per week is the norm. Various projects are assigned throughout the year. The basics of research are taught within the classroom and in library sessions.

The Center for Arts in Natick (TCAN) Artist-in-Residence Program presents: Dorothy Andrews, Photographer
Natick High School
April - May, 2003 Dorothy ("Darcy") Andrews began photography as an adult. Her mastery of her craft helped her become an educator at the New England School of Photography. Darcy also works as an actuary for a Big Four accounting firm and as an adjunct Professor in Boston University’s Actuarial Science Program. Her mathematical acumen is apparent in the technical accuracy of her work, while at the same time her work is reflective of her more creative and artistic self. The Artist-in-Residence program began in 2001 -2002 with the design and construction of a cabinet with display case, by a group of local furniture makers. The cabinet remains at the high school and is used by visiting artists to display their works and store their materials in between weekly visits. Last spring a silversmith displayed and demonstrated her craft. This past fall a weaver visited the school and in the winter water color artist participated. The program is a collaboration between the Arts Center and the High School. It brings artists into the high school to to actually set up a working space where the students can observe them at their craft and interact with them on a one-to-one basis, in order to learn about different forms and styles of art and how different artists work.
