Once there, you would lay claim to an entire table so you could lay out encyclopedias, dictionaries, English books to help with punctuation and sentence structure. Now, term papers and writing assignments are as easy as turning on your computer. With a good word processor and a connection to the Internet, an A on your homework or a job promotion for your presentation is only a keystroke away. T he Internet can be a wonderful source of information for anyone who is looking for help with English or in writing letters, stories or essays. Of course, the best idea is to go straight to a search engine such as Infoseek, Yahoo or Alta Vista for help. A large number of the sites related to grammar are linked to each other. Everything is available on the Internet; grammar rules and examples of each; colleges that contain lessons and tests; explanations of punctuation rules and sites that merely 'talk' about the English language and the rules governing it. There are even sites that have all of the above. I have attempted to find a large sampling of the previously mentioned web sites that deal with grammar, punctuation, and writing.

Dear TRISMS users,
Every year I get an influx of questions about how to "supplement" TRISMS.
The word "supplement" has become a buzz-word among homeschoolers in recent
years and I believe it has caused a lot of really wonderful curriculum to go
by the wayside. The trend has been to spend so much time and effort
"supplementing" that we forget why we bought our original curriculum in the
first place. Furthermore, when we become overwhelmed with all that
supplementation, we tend to blame the curriculum. In most cases, if we will
just use our chosen curriculum as it is intended to be used, our children
will actually learn more, and we will be much happier.

It is important that I begin by defining terms. SUPPLEMENT: to fill up or complete. In order to supplement, the original must be lacking something. In the case of curriculum, to supplement would be to

English Language Arts Department The Language Arts Department offers a standards-based curriculum which offers a variety of required courses and electives. These courses not only meet the Massachusetts State Frameworks but also prepare students to be successful in English at the college level. The Boston Public Schools curriculum is taught in all grades (9-12). Students in grades 10-12 have 220 minutes of instruction per week; students in our Grade Nine Academy have 400 minutes of instruction per week. Students read literature of various genres and are asked to carefully analyze and respond to literature through key questions. Writing is taught as a process; students are encouraged to revise and rewrite as frequently as necessary, and representative samples of student writing are published on a regular basis. Vocabulary and language skills are integrated throughout the language arts curriculum. The new site for our BC Electronic Writing Tutorial Project is now on-line. BC undergraduates are helping Brighton High students edit and improve their writing!
