The students have just finished a large unit on verbs. We studied verb tenses, direct objects, indirect objects, action verbs, linking verbs, and subject/verb agreement. We finished up the unit this week by having a test. (Be sure to ask your child how s/he did.) After spring break, we will begin a unit on nouns. We will study nominatives, common nouns, proper nouns, etc. Don't forget that we have a spelling test every other week. Many of the students do well on these, but some of the students could use some additional help. Parents could help by giving a practice spelling test at home. Thanks!

3.5 Spelling, grammar, and punctuation Online tools, such as spelling and grammar checkers, should be used during development. It is recommended that someone other than the developer do the final editing. Writers tend to miss their own errors and online tools do not account for all rules and their exceptions. 3.5.1. Are they correct? Correct spelling, grammar and punctuation should be used at all times. 3.5.2. Are they consistent? Spelling, grammar and punctuation use can vary with the type of a product. If a certain writing style is used, it should be used throughout the entire program. Created: January 12, 1999 Revised: Comments

Online Technical Writing: Common Grammar, Usage, and Spelling Problems
This appendix covers only those grammar, punctuation, usage, and spelling problems that give people the biggest headaches. If you can't find answers to what you are looking for here, consult a standard reference handbook such as one of the following (try to get an edition published after 1990):
Beene, Lynn and William Vande Kopple. The Riverside Handbook . Boston: Houghton-Mifflin. Corder, Jim W. and John J. Ruszkiewicz. Handbook of Current English . Glenview, IL: Scott, Foresman. Hefferman, James A. and John E. Lincoln. Writing: A College Handbook . New York: W. W. Norton. Hodges, John C. and Mary E. Whitten. Hodges' Harbrace College Handbook . New York: Harcourt Brace and Janovich. Leggett, Glen, et al. Handbook for Writers . Englewood-Cliffs: Prentice-Hall. Strunk, William, and E. B. White. Elements of Style . New York: Macmillan, 1979.
Technical-writing professionals try to simplify grammar rules as much as possible, without hurting the language or putting themselves in straitjackets. Typically, they work in teams and frequently move in and out of projectsso that the same document may be worked on by different writers and editors during the space of just a few years. That's why any guidelines based on interpretation or personal style or judgment must be avoided. Interested in courses related to this page or a printed version? See the

Why my spelling, grammar, and punctution sucks more than an amsterdam whore
I have been getting alot of commets about my spelling, grammar and punctuation. Thankyou all you fucking perfectionists out there. So before you go emailing me with your big words telling me what I already know, keep reading. The reason my spelling, grammar and punctuation seems to be so terrible is that I am a more creative than academic person. When I have ideas, I just let them flow and I think faster than I write. Plus my keybord is a piece of shit. It's constantly doing illegal operations. The keyboard is very unsensitive. For example sometimes you might see, "th" where it should say "the". It's not that I dont know how to spell "the", its just that it didnt come up on the screen when I hit the "e" key. Its mostly typos. I actually am a pretty good speller. Also, when I finish writing something, I dont like to edit it before I post it because I like it to be "raw and unedited". :) So there ;P [back to main page] Email: PrincessCorruption@hotmail.com

A variety of Romance spoken on an island west of France. Phonology, spelling, grammar, EnglishTundrian dictionary, and texts.
    http://www.tundria.com/TundriaFolder/TundLang.htm
    1. Tundrian is the official language of Tundria, an island country off the western coast of France in Western Europe. It is also the mother tongue of about two-thirds of the country's population. 2. Tundrian is a Romance language, derivable like the others from Latin, which was introduced into the island by its Roman conquerors some two thousand years ago. Tundrian shares certain features with its closest Romance neighbours, French and Spanish, and some others with more distant relatives, particularly Italian. Yet it is a language with some unique (or almost unique) characteristics, not present in any other Romance language. Here are the most important of these:
    3. Tundrian is the only descendant of Latin that preserved the distinction between original short and long vowels until quite late in its history (9th-10th century AD). Although this distinction has by now disappeared in pronunciation, Tundrian spelling has retained it to this day, as can be seen from the following examples of stressed vowels:
    p e rdo p e d ['ped] 'foot' t eil a ['tila] 'cloth' f i d ['fid] 'faith' v iy ta ['v ¸Äta] 'life' p o rta v o le s ou l ['sul] 'sun' p tz m u r ['myr] 'wall' It should be noted that the development of Latin /a/ was not affected by its original quantity: părtem p a rt mălum m a l ['mal] 'bad' pāskō p a sco portāre port a r In a related development, word-final Latin -ō has been retained as -o [-u], while word-final -Å (originally -Ås, -Åm) is normally lost:
