Through the application form and supporting credentials, the Admission Committee seeks to learn as much as possible about each candidate for admission. In addition to the official transcript, a counselor recommendation and one teacher evaluation are considered in evaluating the secondary school experience. Standardized test scores are also part of the admission process but are considered to be subordinate to the secondary school record. Other subjective factors that are considered include the admission essay/personal statement, extracurricular activity profile, and interview. Then, on the basis of scholastic achievement, personal characteristics, and overall potential for success in a collegiate environment, the committee selects for admission those individuals whose abilities, attributes, and interests match our criteria for the fall or mid-year entering class. FULTON ADULT/ALTERNATIVE AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION 2001-02 ANNUAL REPORT The Fulton Adult/Alternative Education Program is recognized as one of the most outstanding programs in Michigan and is the largest in the Mid-Michigan area. This program operates under the premise that each community is responsible for its school and should remain highly involved in assuring educational excellence. The program administration and staff require high standards of quality education and continually keep the program members, school board, local businesses and industry, as well as the educational community, aware of its goals, programs, and successes. During the 2001-02 school year, the Fulton Program had over 450 students with a variety of services throughout the program districts, last spring we had 164 Adult/Alternative Education graduates. The Fulton Adult/Alternative Education Program has three schools located throughout the Mid-Michigan area. Sites are located in Middleton, Shepherd, and St. Louis. ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS Adult Basic Skills Adult Basic Skills' classes are designed for the student without a diploma with skills at or below the eighth grade level in Math, Reading, and English. Through improvement of academic skills, students will prepare for adult high school completion, increase their opportunities for successful employment, become less dependent on others, improve self confidence, and meet adult responsibilities for themselves, their families, and the community. This program is limited to 450 hours of instruction.
