It is part of the AATG Georgia Chapter Testing page. Last updated Monday, September 17, 2001 Here, you will find general information concerning the AATG National Standardized German Testing Program for High School Students and Awards Program Procedures . Specific dates and/or numbers were omitted, though, as this changes (slightly) from year to year. However, this page is more extensive than the appropriate AATG mailings as there is more space available. Most of the following is compiled from various pertinent AATG and related sources (mainly from the years 1994-2001). GENERAL ACADEMIC GUIDANCE AND POLICIES Back to Course Registration Booklet Back to High School Minimum Course Load Students must normally take a minimum of 6 classes each semester, except for seniors taking three honors courses in which case the minimum is 5 classes each semester. These classes do not include counselor aide, independent study or audit. The recommended maximum course load is seven (7) classes. The school reserves the right to limit a student’s course load when appropriate. All students, except those taking three honors courses or those with special and compelling needs, must take at least four academic subjects per semester (i.e. those in English, social studies, math, science, and modern languages). Any deviation from these requirements must be approved by the counselor and principal. Students selecting an overload of more than 5 academic courses must have the approval of their teachers and counselor. Please direct questions concerning enrollment in specific courses to the appropriate counselor. Advanced Placement Courses ASIJ offers Advanced Placement Courses to students who demonstrate the ability and desire to work, especially during their junior and senior years, at a level comparable to the first year of college in a given subject. At the completion of the AP course, the students are encouraged to take the Advanced Placement Exam in order to receive college credit in addition to earning credit toward graduation.

Individual Counseling
Students may make appointments to meet with their counselor or stop in for immediate help in a crisis situation. Group Counseling
Groups are formed based on needs expressed by students. Some topics have been career planning, women’s issues, new student adjustment, and general school concerns. Student-Teacher-Counselor Consultation
Sometimes a third party is needed to resolve differences between a teacher and a student. We try to encourage communication between student and teacher and help them work out whatever problems they may have. Parent Meetings
Sometimes helping students solve problems involves meeting with parent/guardian(s). We understand that there are many other factors beyond school that impact on a student’s educational experience. Talking to parent/guardian(s) often leads to new ways of dealing with concerns. Referral Service
The Counseling Office often acts as a referral agent for students with concerns that require more intensive help.

It is the primary purpose of the Guidance program at Ludlow High School to provide, as best it can, opportunities for the fullest possible development of each individual student. By means of counseling and testing, the students discover their interest, abilities, and potential, so that they are able to make intelligent decisions throughout their high school careers. Students should review their plans and goals on an ongoing basis and discuss them fully with their parents, teachers, and counselors, so that wisest possible choices are made to meet each individual's needs. Our Guidance staff is trained to help students make proper selections of their course work. In addition, they may assist students in analyzing test results, discussing strengths and weaknesses, and ultimately selecting those courses which best fit their abilities, and future plans. To this end, the counselors are dedicated to help students get the most out of high school, and to insure that their long range goals are accessible after graduation.
