Meetings and Churches
Using the Internet

Prepared by Bill Samuel Originally published July 1, 2000 at Suite101.com If you wanted to find a place to worship with Friends (Quakers) in your area or in some place you were visiting, how would you do it? How can you use the Internet in such a search? You can find a lot of Friends meetings and churches (congregations) on the World Wide Web, but it may not be easy. There is no site that contains all, or even a very large proportion, of Friends congregations. There is only one list of meetings of which I am aware that contains a large number and includes meetings on more than one continent.
Where Do I Look?
If you don't find anything in your area on that list, you generally need to find the yearly meeting(s) serving the area. A yearly meeting is the Friends equivalent of a diocese, annual conference or district in other denominations. Because of divisions among Friends, there is often more than one yearly meeting serving an area. Most yearly meetings in areas of the world where there is a substantial proportion of the population with Internet access have a Web site or at least an email address. Most yearly meeting Web sites include directories of member congregations. However, the majority of the world's Friends are in poorer areas where few have Internet access. Yearly meetings in these areas usually do not have Web sites, and only a few have email addresses. Check my

Submit A Tip Most Wanted War on Terrorism FBI Home Page The alleged terrorists on this list have been indicted by sitting Federal Grand Juries in various jurisdictions in the United States for the crimes reflected on their wanted posters. Evidence was gathered and presented to the Grand Juries, which led to their being charged. The indictments currently listed on the posters allow them to be arrested and brought to justice. Future indictments may be handed down as various investigations proceed in connection to other terrorist incidents, for example, the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. It is also important to note that these individuals will remain wanted in connection with their alleged crimes until such time as the charges are dropped or when credible physical evidence is obtained, which proves with 100% accuracy, that they are deceased.

Question: Are Foreign Citizens Authorized to Purchase Ammunition in the United States?
Answer:
The most common exception in the Gun Control Act is for a nonimmigrant alien who has a hunting license or permit that was lawfully issued in the United States. The hunting license or permit can be from any state in the United States - it does not have to be from the state where the nonimmigrant alien is purchasing the ammunition. The nonimmigrant alien prohibition applies to any alien in the United States in a nonimmigrant status, whether or not that alien was required to obtain a visa to enter the United States. Some examples of nonimmigrant aliens are persons travelling temporarily in the United States for business or pleasure, persons studying in the United States who maintain a residence abroad, and temporary foreign workers. Significantly, the nonimmigrant alien does not have to establish state residency to purchase ammunition. Therefore, unlike with firearm sales, the alien does not have to provide the seller with documentation demonstrating that he or she has resided in the State for 90 days.

IT Recruiters, Job Seekers Turn to Web for 'Help Wanted'
By Gail Repsher, Staff Writer
Job seekers and recruiters agree: The balance of power has shifted from the employer to the job seeker, and with this shift has come a corresponding change in the advertising marketplace, where recruitment advertising is growing faster on the Internet than it is in print.
In other words, the Web is becoming king of the job search, particularly in the information technology field.
Enter Monster.com, which lists more than 400,000 jobs, holds 4 million resumes in its online database, boasts 8.6 million registered job seekers and features tech career tools such as IT message boards, free online classes and certification information. Online recruiting appears to be taking a bite out of print advertising revenue, according to Forrester Research Inc. of Cambridge, Mass. A survey of 3,000 online consumers and 50 recruiters published in February by Forrester found that recruiters will decrease their spending on print advertising by 31 percent by 2004, while they will increase spending on online advertising by 52 percent. Forrester also found that 37 percent of online job seekers wanted technology jobs, the most in any category, and that 60 percent of recruiters found the Internet most effective in filling technical jobs.

http://www.courttv.com/news/cow/060602_fantasy_ctv.html
Updated June 7, 2002, 5:40 p.m. ET Fantasy leagues feature convicts in life-or-death contests Fantasy leagues like www.fantasydeathrow.com, left, are taking participants to the dark side of gameplay. By Matt Bean
Court TV Both www.fantasydeathrow.com and www.fantasyfugitiverecovery.com turn fantasy gameplay into a life-or-death matter. Borrowing the standard fantasy sports league formula, competitors choose "players" and score points based on their performance. But while participants in traditional fantasy leagues scour box scores and scouting reports for their draftees, members of www.fantasydeathrow.com and www.fantasyfugitiverecovery.com are more likely to pore over mugshots than the sports section. Each game puts its own spin on the formula: www.fantasyfugitiverecovery.com is concerned with catching the "players," giving participants points whenever a wanted fugitive is captured, while www.fantasydeathrow.com is all about killing them. Not surprisingly, the sites, which draw thousands of visitors per day, have garnered criticism for handling serious issues like prison breakouts and executions in humorous ways. But regardless of tact, say the creators, their sites help advance the ever-present debate over how the U.S. treats its criminals.
