Stress For many people stress is a fact of life in the modern world. Deadlines, juggling work and personal commitments, interruptions, rush hour traffic, conflict at home, or even the ringing of a cellular phone, are all familiar sources of stress.
Although it is impossible to eliminate all stress from daily life, it is possible to control the effect that stress has on the body and the mind. Severe stress can be damaging to physical and mental heath. It can lead to lowered efficiency, depletion of adaptive resources, wear and tear on the biological system, and, in extreme cases, severe personality and physical deterioration, and even death. People with increased levels of anxiety and nervous tension often need to develop more effective ways of dealing with day to day stress.

The first step towards solid mental health is often reaching out for information or help. Enjoy our site - its designed to provide you a good starting point. New Article - Pain Reduction
As a therapist that specializes in pain reduction, I am concerned about helping patients not just manage their pain, but actually reduce it. In the past, treatment for both chronic (i.e. back pain, headaches, cancer, etc.) and short term (i.e. pregnancy, birth, hormonal imbalance) pain often focused on how to accept, manage, and live with it. I don’t accept that as a goal. I believe that with new discoveries we can go beyond pain management into pain reduction. There are two new innovative non-invasive, non-medication based treatments that I have used that are extremely effective slightly over 80% of the time. If you are interested an approach that is complementry to medical interventions take a look at my article on pain reduction

Cookies, and most foods, actually can alter your mood. They set off emotional and chemical reactions in your body that can temporarily make you feel calm or powerful. When your stress meter goes up, food can have a calming affect, but only for a short time. It also brings many problems, starting with excessive weight gain. Stress eating is often followed by painful self-judgment that can actually drive you to reach for more food. You feel guilty, mad at yourself and believe something's wrong with you. However, there are ways to break that cycle and stop eating to feed emotional hunger.

    Types of Anxiety Disorders
The anxiety disorders include panic disorder (with and without a history of agoraphobia), agoraphobia (with and without a history of panic disorder), generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobia, social phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, acute stress disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (DSM-IV). In addition, there are adjustment disorders with anxious features, anxiety disorders due to general medical conditions, substance-induced anxiety disorders, and the residual category of anxiety disorder not otherwise specified (DSM-IV). Associated Mental Health Conditions and Addictions
Below you will find some of the psychological illnesses and addictions that can sometimes co-exist with an Eating Disorder.
Some of the psychological illness that can be (but are not always) found in people suffering with Anorexia, Bulimia and Compulsive Overeating are: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, BiPolar and BiPolar II Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Panic Disorders and anxiety, and Dissociative Disorder and Multiple Personality Disorder. In addition, some people suffering with an Eating Disorder may also be exhibiting other addictive or self-destructive behaviors. As an Eating Disorder is a reaction to a low self-esteem, and a negative means of coping with life and stress, so are other types of addictions. These can include alcoholism, drug addiction (illegal, prescription and/or over-the-counter medications), and self-injury, cutting and self-mutilation. Harming oneself, also known as cutting, self-mutilation, or SIV (self-inflicted violence) is a coping mechanism that is sometimes found in people also suffering with an Eating Disorder. For some, they may find it easier to deal with real physical pain than to deal with their emotional pain, or some may feel emotionally numb and using SIV reminds them that they are alive. They may even feel that they deserve to be hurt. It can be used to block out emotional pain, or to make the person feel "strong". It is a way to cope with stress and anger, shame and guilt, sadness, and as a release for emotions that have built up inside. SIV can be mild to severe, but it should
