Established in 1981 at the University of Maryland, the Center for Renaissance and Baroque Studies (CRBS) promotes teaching and research in the Renaissance and Baroque periods by offering academic and outreach programs in the arts and humanities and allied fields. All of the Center's efforts stem from an appreciation of the European Renaissance traditions of exploration and of attempts to relate older traditions of knowledge to new discoveries and scholarship. As an independent unit within the College of Arts and Humanities , the Center serves its campus through an array of interdisciplinary programs including symposia colloquia , and special lectures , as well as offering the Renaissance Citation for undergraduates. In addition, the Center publishes a volume series of conference proceedings and proudly hosts the Attending to Early Modern Women conference which explores various aspects of the lives and writings of women in the Renaissance. Extending its reach beyond the university campus, the Center, through the Center Alliance for School Teachers (

Objectives: The student will: -learn how to analyze a script and create a rough sketch of the floor plan. -learn how to adapt a rough floor plan to a scale floor plan rendering. -learn how to adapt a scale rendering to a three-dimensional model. -be able to define the following terms: wings scenic designer curtain set rendering proscenium curtain unit set floor block flat floor plan apron scale leg dutchman box set teaser tormentor back stage platform rail stile toggle rail corner brace corner block keystone Introduction: On the first day of the unit you should introduce the unit, method of evaluation, and define some of the terms by showing them on a stage and a flat. You should also explain how sets can convey location without having all the pieces necessary for the location.

Worthington Bicentennial Teachers' Grants provides teachers in the Worthington school district the opportunity to create a Bicentennial project that includes use of Worthington Memory, thus enhancing the curriculum. The format and process is very similar to the Worthington Educational Foundation grants and therefore will be familiar to teachers.

  • Bicentennial Mural (PDF)
    Seventh and eighth grade Perry Middle School art students at will create a tile mural which will become the first installation of a permanent artwork collection at Perry Middle School. The focus of the mural will be historically significant people, events and symbols in Worthington and Ohio over the past two hundred years. Each student will first research a chosen topic and write a summary of their findings which will be compiled into a book. The book will be made available as a reference tool in the school's library. Every student will depict their chosen topic on a 3D glazed tile which will be incorporated into the mural.
