Four years ago, Geordie launched its first mainstage season and has enjoyed tremendous success since entertaining Montreal audiences. 4001 Berri Montreal, Quebec H2L4H2 Phone: Other Profile Geordie Theatre Productions, named after the English term used to describe the inhabitants of Northern England, is now celebrating its 22nd successful season of educational children's theatre productions. Under the artistic direction of Elsa Bolam, herself a native of Northern England, Geordie Theatre Productions has established a name for itself across Eastern Canada for producing entertaining children's theatre for elementary and secondary school audiences. Four years ago, Geordie launched its first mainstage season and has enjoyed tremendous success since entertaining Montreal audiences. Elsa Bolam, who has also worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company in London and Stratford, as well as Canada's National Theatre School, has been an integral part of that success ever since their debut season in 1981-82. Geordie Theatre Productions puts on its mainstage shows at Concordia's D.B. Clarke Theatre. The company also offers classes for young actors and actresses looking to forge a career in the world of theatre, emphasizing the use of the child's creativity and imagination in their training program.

Recent productions include: Colored People's Time, The Tempest, To Kill a Mockingbird, Blood Wedding, Our Country's Good, Endgame, A View from the Bridge, Henry V, Volpone, and Twelfth Night. Others include The Resurrection of Lady Lester and I Am a Man by OyamO an internationally-renowned playwright and Associate Professor at the U-M. Basement Arts
Every year, students produce around 20 plays on their own. Students select the plays, and they are directed, designed and performed by students in the Arena Theatre. These performances are free and open to the public. Musical Theatre, Dance and Opera

Our organization is made up of musicians, business people and, of course, thespians with considerable experience in community theater. Our mission is to bring top quality theater productions to the wonderful town of Highland. We invite you to look around - we have pictures from our past productions and schedules for our future shows. This web page is a work in process, as is our organization, so any feedback you might have is certainly welcome.

The Music Man
“The Music Man” is the story of a small Iowa town that gets turned upside-down by a con man named Harold Hill, who claims the town needs a boys’ band to keep the kids off the streets. Of course, this will cost money and Harold plans to leave town before anyone realizes he doesn’t know one note from another. The trouble is, he accidentally falls in love with Marian the librarian and he doesn’t want to leave after all. But if he stays, the townspeople just might found out they’ve been had.

Midsummer Night's Dream Macbeth Collusion believes that young people are often underestimated and are capable of work of an exceptional standard given appropriate tuition, direction and motivation. This belief underpins our whole youth theatre programme, which strives to deliver access to productions and workshops of high quality. We have an extensive weekly youth workshop programme . Productions are staged separately. For details of how to get involved in future performance projects please send an email by clicking here Recent productions have included Mum Can I Go To The Dancing? (1999), Local (1999), Macbeth (2000), Dream Holiday (2001), A Midsummer Night's Dream Mearns and Co (2001), and (2002). These were staged by a full professional team and performed at either Eastwood Theatre or the Cottier Theatre in Glasgow. Further details are available on the linked web pages. We have staged a number of other projects, such as Spooked! and Shipwrecked! These have been performed in non-theatre venues, normally after spending time during the holiday period devising and rehearsing. We normally run performance projects and drama weeks in February and October, as well as in the Easter and summer holiday periods. Other special projects have included Elected!, where a group of fifty young people sacked the government and set about running the country. A short film, The Audition, is currently being edited. Future youth theatre developments in 2003 include a summer Shakespeare production at the Cottier Theatre. We are also developing international contacts with a view to a youth theatre exchange.
