DRAMA UNFOLDS as Jones is named to 400 relay EDMONTON, Alberta One day after losing her first 100 meters in four years, Marion Jones was added to the U.S. women's 4x100-meter World Championships relay pool Tuesday after she was originally withheld from the group. Jones won the silver medal in the 100 meters Monday night, beaten by Ukraine's Zhanna Pintusevich-Block for the biggest upset so far in the championships. She was joined in the relay pool by 100-meter finalists Chryste Gaines and Kelli White, defending 200 champion Inger Miller, Torri Edwards, Angela Williams and Brianna Glenn. Jones had been left off earlier because she had not attended the team's relay camp at Monaco last month, and coach J.J. Clark said she needed to show she was fit at the championships. The men's pool for the 4x100 relay was minus 100-meter champion Maurice Greene. He strained his left thigh during the final, and withdrew from the 200, in which he was the defending champion, and the relay. The first rounds of both relays will be run Saturday, with the women's final also Saturday and the men's final Sunday. The U.S. coaches have until Saturday to select their lineups.
