they make up the southernmost of the Caribbean islands.  Trinidad, situated off the coast

32 km (20 miles) north- east of Trinidad.  The area of Trinidad is 4828 sq. km (1864 sq. miles), whilst the area of Tobago is 300 sq. km (116 sq. miles).  Together the total area of the
country is 5130 sq. km (1981 sq. miles). The two islands couldn't be more different.  Trinidad is the seat of government.  The
Caribbean's most prosperous and industrialized island.  It is the home of calypso, steel

Travel Center Country Guide: Business Culture Greetings and Courtesies Business Ethic and Framework Women Meetings GREETINGS AND COURTESIES Handshakes are common for both men and women, both when meeting and upon departing. Friends may embrace, and women friends may hold each other by the shoulders and kiss. Business cards should be printed in Spanish. At social events, the host will usually make individual introductions. BUSINESS ETHIC AND FRAMEWORK Trinidadians are generally considered to be relatively informal, although they are nevertheless concerned with formal dignity, hierarchy, and class. Values emphasize the importance of the personal relationship, and time and effort is taken to establish a personal relationship as a prerequisite to a business relationship. Men should wear conservative business suits and women should wear conservative suits or dresses. WOMEN MEETINGS Schedules are busy and work days are full, so meetings start on time. U.S. business culture tends to be informal, with an emphasis on getting things done. Generally, businesspeople are informal and direct, sometimes to the point of being confrontational. They will usually get down to business quickly, so as not to waste time. Talk will be open and fast-paced. People might interrupt each other or finish sentences for someone else. They will freely give their own opinions, suggest and debate different ideas or approaches, and contradict senior group members. Control and efficiency are important. U.S. people want to be informed of new developments and changes, good or bad, so they can deal with them. Holding something back might be viewed as dishonesty. U.S. people value directness about intentions, and what can or can not be done. Evasions, even as a form of politeness, will be seen as irresponsibility or dishonesty.
