Thus the plan is to collect and analyse palaeoenvironmental data from sedimentary basins (papyrus swamps) that lie close to the excavated archaeological sites at Kasunga and Munsa and those at Ntusi and Bigo. This will help to reconstruct the environmental history of the region and thus revel the range of possible causal factors that may have led to the decline of these kingdoms in the great lakes region. History
Before the coming of the British Colonialists in the 19thCentury, Uganda had been ruled by monarchies. Uganda gained its independence from Britain in 1962. The progress of the 1960's was reversed by the coup of Idi Amin Dada in January 1971. The country suffered a reign of terror until the dictator was overthrown in 1979 with the help of Tanzania. In 1986 the National Resistance Movement led by Yoweri Museveni, assumed power. The new government embarked on an economic recovery program.Museveni was returned to office in 1996 in Uganda's first direct presidential election, and was re-elected in 2001. Geography

The purpose of my project is to compare a have-not country to a have country.
Country Name Literacy Rate Population Growth Rate Life Expectancy Unemployment Rate Population Below Poverty GDP Per Capita Canada NA% Uganda NA%
The have not Nation that I chose was Uganda. In Uganda the National Language is English but there are also other languages spoken such as Ganda, Luganda, or Niger-congo. The Religions that are found in Uganda are 33% Roman Catholic, 33% Protestant, 16% Muslim and 18% indigenous beliefs. In Uganda the occupations are 83% Agriculture, 5% industrial, and 13% sevices. Most of the people in Uganda today are farmers, they live with there families in isolated homesteads rather then living in the villages or in town. in Uganda bananas are the principal food crop and are gathered mostly by woman. The cash crops are coffee and cotton they are cultivated by men, but at harvest time the whole family helps to gather the crop. The total Population of uganda is 20,604,874

Comparison Page on Canada and Uganda
    By Scott.C
The purpose of my project is to compare the standard of living of Canada and Uganda. The country of Uganda is located in East Africa West of Kenya. Uganda achieved independence from the U.K. in 1962. Canada is located in North America and borders with the U.S.A.. Canada is the second largest country in the world and it became a country in 1867.
Country Name Literacy Rate (%) Population Growth Rate (%) Life Expectancy Unemployment Rate (%) Population Below Poverty Line (%) GDP Per Capita Canada 79.43 Years N/A Uganda 42.93 years N/A
The country of Uganda contains a large variety of environments in a relatively small area. These include forests, tropical jungles, dry lands, and a high amount of arable land. The population of Uganda is roughly 23,317,560. this population is spread throughout the 39 districts established by the government. English is the official government language but Niger-Congo and Nilo-Saharan languages are also spoken along with Swahili and Arabic. The main religions of Uganda are Roman Catholic and Protestant. This country is a "have not nation" because of a large dept of $3.1 billion American.
