Situated on the banks of the River Clyde, it is close to Glasgow city centre (around 15 minutes walk) and just 8 miles from the city's international airport. A railway station and covered walkway connect the SECC with the public transport network of Glasgow, as do several nearby bus stops and taxi ranks (a taxi can also be ordered at any time of the day or night from the adjoining Moat House Hotel). At the heart of the conference complex is the splendid Clyde Auditorium (known locally as the Armadillo), designed by Sir Norman Foster and accommodating 3000 delegates.

Beltex - the double muscled sheep Beltex is primarily a terminal sire to cross with British sheep and half-bred continental sheep. The breed's main characteristics are double-muscled hindquarters, coupled with fine bones. This ensures maximum killing-out percentage of the finished lamb. Finished lambs yield a high killing out percentage and a carcase with well-fleshed legs, good eye muscle and a long loin. The finished lamb is sought after for its superior conformation both in the home and export market.
Why Beltex?
tighter wool

protection from the elements
quick to suckle
less labour intensive at birth
ease of lambing
more live lambs

General Information John, London, England There's no law against going topfree in the UK and many British women go topless abroad. However it seems women are more conservative on home soil and may wear a top in Britain when they wouldn't in Greece or Spain. Going topless isn't going to get you into trouble but you may find yourself in a conspicuous minority. Alan, Marietta, GA

50. Welcome To Authority And Governance In The Roman Catholic Church
general information on research conducted in the united kingdom on authority, relationships and participation in Catholicism.
http://www.queensresearch.org/ag/index.html
In the spring of 1996 a group of interested Catholics embarked on an exploration into ' Authority and Governance in the Roman Catholic Church '. Its aim was to assist the Church in addressing the complex problems of authority, governance, relationships and participation in contemporary Britain and, where appropriate, adapt pastoral policy and practice. The process adopted was to encourage and facilitate a mixture of thoughtful conversation and careful research, informed by on-going theological reflection and enriched by the everyday experience of ordinary Catholics. The intention was to bring to public awareness the results of the research and invite further conversation about these vital contemporary issues.
Awareness and Involvement
It is estimated that over 1000 people participated directly in the Project including:
  • 500 Lay people 100 Senior Diocesan Personnel 65 Clerics 50 Theologians and Social Scientists 15 Bishops 10 members of Bishops' Committees
The Programme of Work
It also maintained active links with three similar initiatives overseas and is disseminating its findings through a series of publications.

United Kingdom General Elections, 7 June 2001 Send Print Registration to Vote: On 16 February 2001 "The Representation of the People Act 2000" came into effect. It affects registration procedures for overseas electors. There are three major changes in the new Act:
  • The new legislation allows for postal voting. The new legislation allows applications to be countersigned by any British Citizen, (for example, a Consular Officer if they are satisfied that the applicant is a British Citizen resident overseas.) The new legislation establishes rolling electoral registers. From 16 February 2001, any British Citizen resident overseas can apply for registration at any time during the year.
  • In the previous legislation, a British Citizen wishing to apply for registration as an overseas elector had to have been registered on an electoral register at an address in the UK within the 20 years prior to their application. This qualifying period has been reduced to 15 years. How to register: An "Application to Register as an Overseas Elector" form must be completed. Contact your nearest British Consulate General to obtain the form and an explanatory leaflet. (There will be a small charge.)
