Mission Statement
The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) promotes a better understanding of the U.S. economy by providing the most timely, relevant, and accurate economic data in an objective and cost-effective manner. BEA's role in the Federal statistical system The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) is an agency of the Department of Commerce and is located at 1441 L Street NW, Washington DC. Along with the Census Bureau and STAT-USA, BEA is part of the Department's Economics and Statistics Administration. The national economic accounts industry economic accounts regional economic accounts provide estimates and analyses of personal income, population, employment, and gross state product. The international economic accounts encompass the international transactions accounts (balance of payments) and the international investment positions accounts (the accumulated stocks of U.S.-owned assets abroad and of foreign-owned assets in the United States), as well as estimates of U.S. direct investment abroad and foreign direct investment in the United States. BEA's current national, industry, regional, and international estimates usually appear first in
