Administrative History
The Utah Section of the American Society of Range Mangement (ASRM) was originated at a meeting of ASRM members in Salt Lake City May 7, 1949. A petition was sent to the national office, signed by all in attendance, requesting a section be organized in Utah. On the 20th of June the same year, notification of approval was received by the elected chairman, Harold J. Burback, and the Utah Section of the American Society of Range Management was born. In 1957 a student chapter was instituted at Utah State University. Records are unsure of the date of activation, but April of 1957 is the accepted date. The second student chapter was organized at BYU in 1964-65 with Jordan Pederson as the first president. Since the beginning, tours of rangeland have been a part of the section activities. Almost all of Utah has been covered n the past years, with parts of other states. Also, a scholarship was established in the late 50's, and later other awards for excellence in the field of management came into being.

Molina Advantage - TPA (Third Party Administrator)
Utah

How we began
For over 20 years, Molina Healthcare, Inc. has mastered claims adjudication and payment, prescription drug card administration, pre-certification, utilization review, large case management and preferred provider network management. Today Molina Healthcare, Inc. provides these services to over 440,000 members. Now Molina Healthcare, Inc. is pleased to introduce Molina Advantage. With highly integrated medical management resources that are virtually unparalleled in the third party administration market, Molina Advantage enters the market with unique qualifications. Customizing self-funded benefit plans rather than providing a "cookie-cutter" approach is the key to Molina Healthcare, Inc.’s success. Providing clients with a cost-effective approach to medical care administration and outstanding customer service are Molina Healthcare, Inc.’s goals.
Background Over the last decade, employee benefit costs rose at an unprecedented rate. The ever-increasing premiums of group health insurance plans include profit margins, low-interest crediting, commission payments, premium taxes and reserve requirements, making the fully insured plan unreasonably expensive.

This office has been informed that an insurance agent licensed in Florida, is selling or attempting to sell surety bonds and other lines of insurance to contractors for Federal government contracts illegally. He is using a surety company name very similar to a Treasury approved surety company, but changing the spelling of it slightly (i.e. Amercian vs. American). Federal bond-approving officers are advised to verify the authenticity of any bond written by Amercian Contractors Indemnity Company or by American Contractors Indemnity Company by contacting Frank M. Lanak, Director of Claims, telephone (310) 649-0990. Additionally, it has been reported that the agent has written bonds in the name of Indemnity Insurance Company of North America, also on Federal contracts. Please be advised that this company is not currently a Treasury approved surety company.

Standards of Ethics
for Nonprofit Organizations in Utah

The Utah Nonprofits Association (UNA) began to work on Standards of Ethics for Nonprofit Organizations in April 1998. At an Executive Roundtable, entitled "Developing Ethical Standards for Nonprofits", models from various locations were discussed, and a taskforce of nine people was selected to draft the document for Utah. During 1998, the Ethics taskforce developed several drafts of the Standards of Ethics, including the Affirmation Statement and the Board Resolution.
The committee reviewed standards, management checklists, and codes of ethics from a variety of sources including the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, the National Committee on Planned Giving, United Way of Los Angeles, National Society of Fundraising Executives, and the Better Business Bureau. UNA also gratefully acknowledges its sister organization, the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations for its Maryland Standards of Excellence: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector (©1998)
These documents, as well as many comments that were discussed and reviewed were edited into the original draft in October 1998. An implementation plan was developed during 1999, and the UNA Board of Trustees approved the Standards and implementation plan at the board meeting held on January 10, 2000. The requirement that all UNA members comply with the Standards was rolled out as of September 2001 for full compliance in September 2002.
