and Higher Education Media Contacts January 22, 2002 The University of Utah's Intermountain Academy for Leadership in Higher Education will present a conference that will network, for the first time, Utah's minority, public and higher education advocates to examine education policies that affect Utah's increasingly diverse population.
The academy, part of the University's Academic Outreach & Continuing Education division, is sponsoring "Changing Faces of Utah: Conversation and Collaboration on Issues of Race, Gender and Ethnicity in Utah Public and Higher Education" Feb. 25 and 26. It will be held in the U's Saltair Room, located in the A. Ray Olpin Union Building. The event is for students, policy-makers, educators, counselors, and concerned citizens from within and outside Utah.
"The conference will bring together participants from schools and colleges to decide what can and should be done to prepare all children to grow into their roles as scholars, workers, leaders and responsible citizens. Our colleagues at Washington and Berkeley will underscore the importance of collaboration to increase the educational success of women and ethnic minorities," notes Conference Chair Anne Peterson.
