During that time period there were at least 30 Dynasties and 170 individual "god-kings" that ruled the "Upper and Lower Kingdoms". Since the Egyptian civilization dates back to the very beginning of recorded history information on the many of the kings is sparse. Kings often had their names "erased" from monuments and left out of the "list of kings" if they had offended their successors. Below are some of the better known kings of Egypt. Menes (Narmer) The first king of the Upper and Lower kingdoms of Egypt. Khufu Built the first and largest Great Pyramid at Giza. Khafre Built the second Great Pyramid at Giza. Menkaure Built the third Great Pyramid at Giza. Queen Hatshepsut The first female Egyptian King and one of the first woman leaders of any civilization. Thutmose III Sometimes called the "Napolean of ancient Egypt" for his successful military campaigns. Amenhotep IV (Akhenaton) The "heretic-pharoah" one of the most controversial of all Egyptian kings.

By Swami B.V. Tripurari
Excerpts
from "Ancient Wisdom for Modern Ignorance."
By Swami B.V. Tripurari. Clarion Call Publishing 1994. Here is a fascinating piece of information about Hindus and Mayans connection. According to Ambassador Poindexter, in his two volume 1930s treatise "The Arya-Incas", called the Mayan civilization was 'unquesionably Hindu' in origin. Alexander von Humbolt (1769-1859) an eminent, European scholar and anthropologist, was one of the first to postulate the Asiatic origin of the Indian civilizations of the Americas. What mysterious pyschological law would have caused Asians and Americans to both use the umbrella as a sign of royalty, to invent the same games, imagine similar cosmologies, and attribute the same colors to the different directions? The Aryan civilization of India is a logical choice for the beginning of the diffusion of our planet's civilization. American historian Will Durant, in his book 'Our Oriental Heritage', described India as the most ancient civilization on earth, and he offered many examples of Indian culture through out the world. He demonstrated that as early as the 9th century B.C. E. Indians were exploring the sea routes, and reaching out and extending their cultural influences to Mesopotamia, Arabia, and Egypt. Most modern day historians prefer to accept ancient Egypt and Babylon, as the most ancient civilization. Because they have no living representation and thereby pose no threat to the status quo.

VIETNAM: HO CHI MINH CITY
Summer Program
Dale A. Olsen , Program Director
A small country which has loomed large on the world's stage, Vietnam is an ancient civilization of distinctive identity-both preserved and transformed as many cultures have clashed over its soil. The Vietnam study program is a singular educational opportunity at a singular historical moment. No previous Vietnamese language study is required. Distinct among Southeast Asian countries, twenty-first-century Vietnam has preserved its ancient and colonial architecture and pristine coastline. Today, so much of the exotic and beautiful remains, yet so much is changing, new, and exciting as this friendly Asian society reinvents itself and its economy.
Coursework and excursions. Students will both live history and study it: witnesses of a transformation in progress, scholars of a complex culture. FSU's affiliation with Vietnam National University in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) ensures exceptional courses in Vietnamese civilization and language. Another highlight is the Ho Chi Minh Conservatory of Music's collaboration in a study of Asian musical traditions.
Excursions near and distant will bring classroom topics alive. Class schedules allow for field trips to the city's cultural treasures (Independence Palace, the history and military museums, Notre Dame Cathedral, Chinatown, and much more). Weekend guided trips to the Mekong Delta, the Cu Chi tunnel complex, the Cao Dai Temple at Tay Ninh, and other major sites open a panorama of natural and human wonders: river and farm life, mountains, sculpture, the mausoleums of monarchs.

Contact Us Hinduism Hinduism is among the most ancient of the eastern religions, and one that has had a profound influence on western civilization. Over the years, it has given birth to other cults and religious movements. Buddhism started as an offshoot of Hinduism. Today, the New Age Movement, Transcendental Meditation, Wicca, and many forms of pagan worship are offspring of Hinduism. Hinduism is a religion of varied interpretations, practices, and doctrines. One cannot say, “This is the Hindu orthodoxy, from which there is no deviation.” There are, however, certain commonalities, which we will explore. We present this information in an effort to explain the general beliefs of Hinduism, and contrast them with biblical Christianity. We do our best to explain some rather nebulous concepts, and may make some mild generalizations. If you are Hindu, please understand that we bear no hatred or malice to the good people that practice this religion. We only wish to show how the Hindu religion differs from the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is our goal to present the truth with love.
