Volunteer Opportunities with OPEN M
OPEN M is, first and foremost, a volunteer-driven organization. Its trustees and corporate members give their time and talents to oversee the mission. OPEN M has seven full-time and three part-time members of its staff. One of their major responsibilities is to inform, recruit, and deploy volunteers who provide the services to our neighbors in need. In 2002, 3,000 individuals gave their time and energy, their skill and knowledge, to support the work of this ministry: to feed the hungry, heal the sick, nurture children, build families, and to strengthen the community. In this way they proclaim by their presence the Good News which is for all without regard to gender, race, or station in life. They gave 30,000 hours of service.
Here are some of the many opportunities for volunteer service in ongoing programs.

The Forum complements a goal of Neuhaus Education Center's Board of Trustees and Advisory Board to educate the Houston community about the importance of successful public school education, especially in the area of reading. The seminars provide an opportunity to learn about what is working in our public schools as well as meet other Houstonians who value the public school's role in the future of our city. Some members may want to substitute in Houston Independent School District schools in Project APPLE when Houston I.S.D. reading teachers attend classes at Neuhaus Education Center. Others may choose to volunteer in schools after attending Neuhaus training classes. The Fall Forum is the evening of Oct 17 (5-7pm) at NEC . Dr. J. Garcia, President, UT Brownsville and Texas Southmost College is the featured speaker. A catered reception will precede the presentation. The reception will focus on the contributions of leaders in the Houston Hispanic Community.
