The Biology Project Home Cell Biology Online Onion Root Tips: Phases of the cell cycle
In this digital version of the classic microscope lab, you will classify cells from the tip of an onion root into the appropriate phases of the cell cycle, and then count up the cells found in each phase. You can use those numbers to predict how much time a dividing cell spends in each phase
Cell Membranes Learn that membranes are fluid, with components that move, change, and perform vital physiological roles as they allow cells to communicate with each other and their environment.
Cell Signaling Learn that living organisms constantly receive and interpret signals from their environment. Cells of multi-cellular organisms also receive signals from other cells, including signals for cell division and differentiation. S tudying Cells Introduce yourself to the cell as the fundamental unit of life and the scientific method.

Cell Biology topics
Introduction:
This group of web pages provides basic information about cell biology topics. It was developed by Dr. Gwen Childs (Chair, Anatomy and Neurobiology, University of Arkansas). It will also be served and upgraded at
http://www.cell-biology.org/

Many of the photos taken from texts used by our students. These are used as supplemental handouts and guides for the discussions in our lectures. Most of these topics focus on structure/function correlations. They are not intended to be comprehensive. Some topics, like those focusing on mitochondria, will correlate with biochemistry and physiology lectures that expand students' understanding of that organelle system.
Cell Biology topics:
transport and sorting routes through the Golgi complex production of lysosomes gatekeepers for cell compartments: rough endoplasmic reticulum nucleus mitochondria peroxisomes ... events during process patching and capping role of clathrin role of adaptin effect of temperature how many types of receptors/coated pit?
