Articles should emphasize the significance of the research for understanding the function, ecology, or evolution of behaviour. Research articles may be in the form of full length papers or short research reports. The Editor encourages the submission of short papers containing critical discussion of current issues in the study of animal behaviour. Monograph-length manuscripts on topics of major interest, as well as descriptions of new methods are welcome. A Forum, Letters to Editor and Book Reviews are also included. Also available are Special Issues which are not published periodically and which vary in price according to the issue. Editor in Chief

Conducts studies and provide expert advice on silviculture, soil science, hydrology, geomorphology and forest ecology to operational foresters in the Nelson Forest Region of British Columbia.

Forest Research and Extension groups in British Columbia: Enhanced and Innovative
Pilot Projects
in the Nelson Region: Forest Sciences Section On April 1, 2003 the Section will amalgamate with the Kalmoops and Cariboo regional offices, to form the new Southern Interior Region (SIR) Forest Sciences Section . The reconstituted Section will be based in the new reigonal office at Kamloops with Service Centres located in Williams Lake and Nelson. The Nelson centre will contain specialists in geomorphology, hydrology, and soil science. Other disciplines - notably forest ecology, silviculture/silviculture systems research, and wildlife ecology - will be located in the regional office at Kamloops. The regional Forest Sciences section has served as an in-house consulting group for the forest region for over four decades. In the 1950s and 1960s we concentrated on reforestation studies, and in the 1970s and 1980s we developed the biogeoclimatic ecological classifications and silvicultural interpretations for the region. Currently we have specialists in the fields of soil science, hydrology, geomorphology and silviculture.

Ph.D. University of Washington, 1983 Full Curriculum Vitae Research Interests Avian ecology, wildlife biology, conservation biology My research addresses problems in wildlife conservation and the development of multidisciplinary approaches to the conservation of protected areas. Central to that research has been the application of ecological principles to the conservation of rare and endangered species and their habitats. Recent studies of the stopover and breeding biology of Neotropical migratory birds along the northern Gulf coast and in Great Smoky Mountains National Park are examining the relationship between populations of these birds and landscape scale patterns of habitat availability and land use. Methodologies and habitat models developed for birds are also being used to create new approaches for sampling and monitoring salamander populations.
