My Stuff: Welcome to my Idea section, here I will present a few articles that I found interesting and some other stuff. Generally I have a tough time getting words out the way I'd like them to be. This seems like a pretty good way to go about that. "Generally speaking, men are influenced by books [and presumably articles, quotes, etc.] which clarify their own thought, which express their own notions well, or which suggest to them ideas which their minds are already predisposed to accept." The Iowa Authors Collection May 2000
"In 1945 the University of Iowa Library entrusted to one of its long-time librarians, Grace Wormer, the task of forming a special collection of books written by Iowa authors," wrote Frank Paluka in Iowa Authors: A Bio-bibliography of Sixty Native Writers (Iowa City: Friends of the University of Iowa Libraries, 1967). "An Iowa author, for the purpose of this collection, was considered to be any writer born in the state or definitely associated with Iowa who had written at least one published book. For non-native writers, a definite association with the state was usually interpreted to mean a residence in Iowa of twenty years or more." By 1967, the collection included the work of more than 800 writers.
Today, 55 years from its beginning, we collect books by the nearly 2,000 authors named below. A short list of writers whose eligibility is uncertain is appended; information about these writers is particularly welcome.
In addition to published work, manuscripts have been collected when possible. Names preceded by an asterisk (*) are represented in the collection by manuscripts and related documents. A bracketed "O" following the name indicates that a MARC-AMC record has been entered in

Most of these people are not professional scholars and some might also be unaware of the fact that Jefferson is depicted, in academic circles, as a quasi social-democrat, as the champion of majority rule and a powerful enemy of the ¡°possessive individualism¡± that permeated the revolutionary period and the early republic. It is my contention that the expert academics are wrong and the amateur libertarians are right. This article - or at least the complete version of it - should reassure libertarians who revere Jefferson as a supporter of individual rights, freedom of choice, limited government and above all property rights, that they are right, in spite of the extravagance that has come out on this old subject from the universities in the past century.
