Hristo Botev P oeta revolucionario búlgaro nacido en Kalofer, el más importante del periodo anterior a la liberación de Bulgaria. Viajó a Odessa para completar sus estudios secundarios. A su vuelta dirigió los periódicos revolucionarios Budilnik y Zname. Su incesante activismo propagandístico encuentra su expresión en la literatura. Su poesía popular recuerda a Byron, Pushkin y Lermontov. En ella presenta a rebeldes que lucharon por la independencia, o a proscritos nobles que robaban a los ricos para entregar el botín a los pobres. Borba es una condena poética de la injusticia, y Mehanata satiriza a los políticos de café. En 1876, Botev regresó del exilio en Rumania y fue asesinado en el levantamiento antiotomano. Turismo Dopo cinque secoli di dominio turco , nell'Ottocento rinasce uno stato bulgaro libero. Alla lotta per l'indipendenza nazionale e per l'affermazione di una cultura in lingua bulgara danno un grande contributo i cosiddetti buditeli ("risvegliatori"), uomini che, sull'onda delle idee illuministiche e romantiche, si sforzano di propagandare uno spirito di riscossa, adoperandosi innanzitutto per la creazione di una scuola in lingua bulgara. Quale precursore importante della letteratura bulgara moderna va citato il monaco Pajsii di Hilendar (1722-1798), autore della "Storia slavobulgara della nazione e dei re e dei santi bulgari e di tutti gli avvenimenti e fatti bulgari", opera che seppure di carattere compilativo é pervasa da sincero spirito patriottico e si prefigge lo scopo di dare una dignità storica al popolo bulgaro.

THE 150th ANNIVERSARY OF HRISTO BOTEV’S BIRTH A postage stamp in commemoration of the 150th birthday anniversary of the Bulgarian poet of genius and fighter for national liberation Hristo Botev (1848-1876) was validated by the country’s post office administration on 6 January. Its author, Bogdan Mavrodinov, has used a very popular portrait of the poet by Boyan Petrov to make the design. The stamp, with a nominal value of 120 levs, measures 28.5 to 39 mm. Its perforation is notched, the circulation of the issue is 1 million. Together with the postage stamp an illustrated envelope and a special postmark have also been issued.
