HAY, EUTROPE, HUGHES My great grandfather was Henry James HAY. His family originated in Scotland but some generations prior to Henry they emigrated to Poland with other scottish families including Garvie and Kedslie (their story is told in a book titled "Agents of Change: Scots in Poland"). Henry James was a black sheep in the family. My understanding from the book, Victorian marriage and other certificates is that, after emigrating to Australia Henry became Professor of Music at Melbourne University. He married Maria EUTROPE, daughter of Fricaud EUTROPE (a French chef) and Sylvia Maria HUGHES. The connection to me then runs through Henry's son Leopold Fricaud HAY (my grandfather) and Frederick Henry James HAY (my father). Apparently Henry was keen on the drink and "went bush". I have lost the trail and cannot find what happened to Henry. Can anyone help with Henry? Also, if anyone has a connection through EUTROPE or HUGHES I would be interested to hear.

The Categories seems to divide roughly into two parts: a division of predications into ten basic kinds or "categories", and a treatment of several important related issues. ET02774 Rhetoric Aristotle Computer data (1 file: 385 kb.) Aristotle analyzes rhetoric in terms of its end, or final, cause, which is persuasion. Like dialectic it is not a science, and therefore it has no specific subject matter, no single method, and no proper set of principles. It is simply the faculty, or power, of observing in any given case the available means of persuasion. According to Aristotle, there are three modes of persuasion that a speaker may exercise: the persuasive power of his own character, the excitation of desired emotions in the audience, and proof or apparent proof.
