The Morven Arms.
On Wednesday evening Donal went to The Morven Arms to inquire for the third time if his box was come. The landlord said, if a great heavy tool-chest was the thing he expected, it had come. Donal Grant wad be the name upo' 't," said Donal. "'Deed, I didna luik," said the landlord. "It's i' the back yard." As Donal went through the through the house to the yard, he passed the door of a room where some of the townsfolk sat, and heard the earl mentioned. He had not asked Andrew anything about the young man he had spoken with; for he understood that his host hel himself not at liberty to talk about the family in which his granddaughter was a servant. But what was said in public he surely might hear! He requested the landlord to let him have a bottle of ale, and went into the room and sat down. It was a decent parlour with a sanded floor. Those assembled were a mixed company from town and country, having a tumbler of whisky-toddy together after the market. One of them was a stranger who had been receiving from others various pieces of information concerning the town and its neighbourhood. "I min' the auld man weel," a wrinkled gray-haired man was saying as Donal entered, "-a varra different man frae this present. He wud sit doon as ready as no - that wud he - wi' ony puir body like mysel', and gie him his cracks, an' hear his news, an' drink his glaiss, an' mak naething o' 't. but this man, haith! wha ever saw him cheenge word wi' brither man?"

Chapter 1
Foot Faring
It was a lovely morning in the first of summer. Donal Grant was descending a path on a hillside to the valley below - a sheep track of which he knew every winding as well as any boy his half-mile to and from school. But he had never before gone down the hill with the feeling that he was not about to go up again. He was on his way to pastures very new, and in the distance only negatively inviting. But his heart was too full to be troubled - nor was his heart to harbour a care, the next thing to an evil spirt, though not quite so bad; for on care may drive out another, while one devil is sure to bring in another.
A great billowy waste of mountains lay beyond him, amongst which played the shadow at their games of hide and seek - graciously merry in the eyes of the happy man, but sadly solemn in the eyes of him in whose heart the dreary thoughts of the past are at a like game. Behind Donal lay a world of dreams into which he dared not turn and look, yet from which he could scarce avert his eyes.
He was nearing the foot of the hill when he stumbled and almost fell, but recovered himself with the agility of a mountaineer, and the unpleasant knowledge that the sole of one of his shoes was all but off. Never had he left home for college that his father had not made personal inspection of his shoes to see that they were fit for the journey, but on this departure they had been forgotten. He sat down and took off the failing equipment. It was too far gone to do anything temporary with it; and of discomforts a loose sole to one's shoe in walking is of the worst. The only thing was to take off the other shoe and both stockings and go barefoot.

IOL Recommended by The Information Society Commission of Ireland Searc's Web Guide to Donal O'Neill (died 1325) Donal O'Neill, ancestor of Phelim Roe O'Neill , was Rí [King] of Ulster in the early 14th century. In 1315 he invited Robert Bruce, King of Scotland, to join the Ulster chiefs in a rising against the English. Robert's brother, Edward Bruce, Earl of Carrick, landed at Larne with 6,000 troops and together with O'Neill's soldiers marched south to defeat the English at Ards, Dundalk and Ardee. The combined Scots and Irish army marched to Coleraine where they succeeded in persuading the O'Conors to abandon their allegience to Richard de Burgh, the English Earl of Ulster. The Earl's forces attacked O'Neill's army but were defeated and on the 2nd of May, 1316 Edward Bruce was declared King of Ireland at Dundalk. Robert the Bruce landed at Carrickfergus with reinforcements in late 1316 and in the Spring of 1317 the combined Scots Irish army marched south to Cashel and Limerick but were deterred by the news that Roger Mortimer, Edward II's lieutenant, had landed reinforcements at Youghal.

TDOC and BOPP will partner in the new program funded through a $1,064,000 federal grant. The money is included in $100 million in grant funds awarded nationwide through the new "Serious and Violent Offender Reentry Initiative" announced July 15, 2002, by Attorney General John Ashcroft. Rae Ann Coughlin, Director of Pre-release and Transitional Services for TDOC, says the aim of the program, entitled "Tennessee Bridges," is to ease the transition of high-risk felony offenders back into the community with a greater success rate. Ultimately, Coughlin says, "We hope this program results in reduced recidivism rates in Tennessee." Coughlin was appointed to the newly created position by TDOC Commissioner Donal Campbell last fall. The first-year component of the three-year program will involve assessing the inmate's needs prior to leaving secure custody. Coughlin says this will include areas such as anger management, substance abuse, errors in thinking, life skills, parenting, family reunification, domestic violence, victim impact, community service and educational or vocational skills.

The spectrograph will be fiber optically coupled and make use of a highly efficient volume phase holographic grating. The spectrograph will be fed, interchangeably, from either the Cassegrain or the prime focus of the telescope. It will be housed on a vibration isolation bench within a temperature-controlled enclosure that will allow future observations to be made in the 1-2 micron region.
