ANSWER TO FATHER RYAN'S "CONQUERED BANNER"

Mrs. Pugh "Furl that banner," and we furled it,
As the poet priest had said,
Furled it slowly, furled it sadly,
For our hopes, alas! were dead.
"Furl that banner," and we furled it,
Though our hearts were bowed with pain
As we thought upon the heroes
Who beneath its folds were slain.
    "Furl that banner," and we furled it, Banner of the sacred cross; As we furled it, many a woman Knelt, and wept some loved one's lost. "Furl that banner," yes, we furled it, Laid it softly down to rest; But the place where we enshrined it Was within each faithful breast. Yes, we furled it, and we laid it In our hearts, far out of sight; But our Southern women taught their children That their fathers' cause was right; Tat 'is right to fight for honor 'gainst a foe, however great;

Your Daughter is Looking for You
Pictures top to bottom: 1) There is no picture of Ryan Roberts. The man in the picture to the left is one of Ryan's friends, Jimmy Miles. Beside him is Susan Gosling's mother, Ruth Gosling; 2) Close up of Jimmy Miles badges. Can anyone identify the squadron or company he was in?; and 3) Susan Gosling today.
Does anyone recognize the badges in this photograph?
My name is Susan Gosling. I was born on October 6th, 1946 in Wandsworth, Streatham, England.
My father is a Canadian Airman by the name of Ryan Roberts. The Airman on the photo with my mother is Jimmy Miles, he is not my father. Perhaps some one will recognize the badges and be able to identify the squadron/company.
My mother is Ruth Gosling. She is an extremely caring person who brought me up single handedly at the cost of great personal and social hardship. Susan Gosling today. Susan would like to know her Canadian father and his family.
She never married. She never had any other children even though she always loved children. She never really had any serious relationships but dedicated her life to providing the best for me. I never felt able to ask her the circumstances of my conception. I knew only the bare details. I knew she tried after I was born to get information of my father, but this was not allowed by the military authorities.

Help agency monitors molestation allegations
By STEPHEN NOHLGREN, Times Staff Writer
published February 5, 2003 CLEARWATER Religious Community Services, an agency in Pinellas County that helps the poor and homeless, is monitoring allegations that its director molested two teenage boys decades ago, when he was a priest and Catholic school principal in Nashville. Ron Dickman, 58, denied Tuesday he ever had sex with a minor, or with any student at Nashville's Father Ryan High School. "This is totally false," he said. "The people who know me there is no doubt in their minds. This has been a terrible torture, a nightmare." Stories about the alleged molestations first appeared in the Nashville Tennessean in October. Last month, after a Tampa Bay television station began asking questions, the agency's board of directors gave Dickman a unanimous vote of confidence and warned volunteers and funding sources of impending publicity. On Friday, the board also asked Tampa attorney Joe Magri, a board member, to examine the allegations further.

Chapter 1
I'll start with the night Rosasharn attacked Ray McPherson's car near the entrance to Blood Red Pond. Not that Rosasharn's dressing up as some kind of creature from the Black Lagoon and hurling himself onto the hood of Ray's old Buick had much to do with what followed, but looking back on it, I realize that was when I got my first small sign that something was going on around there. Something strange. And I don't mean Rosasharn's behavior, which may seem strange to you but was pretty much par for the course for him. I'm talking about the other things, the things that started happening later. But I'd better backtrack a little here. You're probably wondering why Rosasharn was decked out in a swamp thing costume that night in the first place, and in the second place, what inspired him to ambush Ray and his car the way he did. The costume part is easy enough to explain, but the other well, you'd kind of have to know Rosasharn to understand that. Anyway, Rosasharn had the title spot in our film, which we were calling

Clearwater charity's director denies sexual abuse allegations
an ABC Action News report 2/07/03
CLEARWATER - Ron Dickman now lives in the Bay area, and has been executive director of Religious Community Services for six years. The charity, one of the largest and most respected in Pinellas County, saves families and children from hunger and abuse. Now, the man in charge stands accused of abuse himself. "He's a monster is what he is. He's a monster," said the brother of one of Dickman's alleged victims. "It was awful. It was terrifying. It was an awful secret to have to carry around," another alleged victim said. Two families claim their lives were shattered by Dickman. He is accused of molesting two of his former students while he was a priest and principal at Father Ryan High School in Nashville in the early 1980's. Dickman insists he did nothing wrong, that people are simply out to get him. "Did you sexually molest these boys?" Action investigator Mike Mason asked him. "Absolutely not," Dickman replied.

Father Ryan Captures McCallie Mat Crown By B. B. BRANTON

Georgia wrestlers won the most battles, but Nashville's Father Ryan won the war and claimed the team title at the 17th Annual PowerAde Wrestling Tournament at McCallie Saturday.
On the strength of four championship finalists, including two weight champions, the Irish outdistanced runnerup McIntosh of Atlanta, 225 to 1971/2. Ryan used team depth to claim the first place trophy as 11 of its wrestlers were top six medalists. John Franklin and Zach Shultz won individual crowns at 145 pounds and 215, respectively, for the Irish.
"With strong teams such as McIntosh and Westminster (third with 1651/2), we had to have lots of guys place in the top six to win it all,' said Simpson. "Due to a full week of exams, we weren't able to work out a great deal, but the guys wrestled well in the tournament.'
While Simpson's Irish from Nashville had the team title in hand before the championship finals, Georgia wrestlers dominated the individual weight crowns with eight champions.
Georgians taking the first half-dozen titles were Josh Cox (103, Northwest Whitfield), Wyatt Wilkie (112, Sequoyah) the brother duo of Harry Clarke (119) and Joe Clarke (125) from Westminster and McIntosh's Alan Kan (130) and Mike Munn (135).

    Father Abram J. Ryan
The poet-priest of the South, born at Norfolk, Virginia, 15 August, 1839; died at Louisville, Kentucky, 22 April, 1886. He inherited from his parents, in its most poetic and religious form, the strange witchery of the Irish temper. Fitted for the priesthood by a nature at once mystic and spiritual, be was ordained just before the beginning of the Civil War, entered the Confederate army as a chaplain, and served in this capacity until the end of the war. In the hour of defeat he won the heart of the entire South by his "Conquered Banner," whose exquisite measure was taken, as he told a friend, from one of the Gregorian HANNIS TAYLOR

    96. Birth Stories: Lukas, Ryan, And Jason, From Birth To Homecoming
A Father's story of the birth of triplets by csection.
    http://www.thelaboroflove.com/birthstories/140.html
Lukas, Ryan, and Jason, from Birth to Homecoming By Trenton My wife "Anne" and I had been married for eight months, and had not been trying to conceive, so we had quite a jolt when the pregnancy announced itself. This was not a first for either of us, before I met Anne I had been raising my three children, Kyle, who is now 6, Logan, 5, and Dylan, 3. Anne had two children that she had lost custody of and we were in the process of trying to reclaim those children from her parents who were their guardians. The pregnancy changed our lives and our plans. As the weeks went by, with morning sickness seemingly 24 hours a day and frequent emergency trips to the doctor, we saw our relationship deteriorate. We spoke to other parents of multiples, and all seemed to have the one thing that made it possible to accept and rise above a challenge like this ... a thing that Anne and I did not have - Togetherness. We had been together so such a short time that our relationship could not withstand the emotional challenge. Where other couples would have been each other's strength and support, we only contributed to each other's nervousness and fears. We made it to the 24th week, and then we had the added stress of waiting for, and fearing, early labor that we knew could make us not parents of babies we had been unprepared for, but of dead babies. The next four weeks passed, each of us a sad, isolated island. Anne's depression was at it's worst during these four weeks. We could find no common ground, he refused to consider raising our children, and I saw a divorce in the near future, one that would cause me to lose my children, the children I wanted, to a woman who never wanted them! We made it past 28 weeks and after her 29th week appointment Anne left our home and began staying at a relative's home. Our divorce was started.
