Thanksgiving Poems
Thanksgiving Our heritage stands brave and true
Encompassed by red, white, and blue.
Declared and signed in threat of death,
A nation formed through freedom's breath.
Their cause was born for self-esteem,
Not for some selfish ruthless scheme.
Today we thrive because they dared
Each patriot, so bravely cared.
Each year we greet Thanksgiving Day
And pray to God, still guide our way.
For as we face each new found threat We must be strong, our mold was set. Be free to show your faith and love The cost was high, just look above. Used with permission. Thanksgiving Gettin' together to smile an' rejoice, An' eatin' an' laughin' with folks of your choice; An' kissin' the girls an' declarin' that they Are growin more beautiful day after day; Chattin' an' braggin' a bit with the men, Buildin' the old family circle again; Livin' the wholesome an' old-fashioned cheer, Just for awhile at the end of the year. Greetings fly fast as we crowd through the door And under the old roof we gather once more Just as we did when the youngsters were small;

November Electronic Update for IMSA Friends Dear IMSA Friends: Hope all is well with you, that you had a great Thanksgiving and are looking ahead to some exciting things as the changes and upgrades to the IMSA standards continue. Read on. Kalis Named to Standards Committee: Washington Meeting set for 12/4
IMSA recently announced final recommendations respect to its Independent Assessor Standards. (You can find a complete listing of these recommendations in our Special Update of November 19 on our web site at kkalis.com.) This review is meant to establish a common, baseline standard of performance for all independent assessors whether they are accountants, actuaries, attorneys, or management consultants. Some of the recommendations require further refinement so that it can be practically applied. This will be the work of the Independent Assessor Standards Committee. IMSA has asked me to be on the committee, and I have accepted. We plan to meet at IMSA offices in Chevy Chase, Maryland on a regular basis over the next several months. Our first meeting is set for Wednesday, December 4. Some key issues are:

AT CHRISTMAS
A man is at his finest towards the finish of the year;
He is almost what he should be when the Christmas season's here;
Then he's thinking more of others than be's thought the months before,
And the laughter of his children is a joy worth toiling for.
He is less a selfish creature than at any other time;
When the Christmas spirit rules him he comes close to the sublime.
When it's Christmas man is bigger and is better in his part;
He is keener for the service that is prompted by the heart. All the petty thoughts and narrow seem to vanish for awhile And the true reward he's seeking is the glory of a smile. Then for others he is toiling and somehow it seems to me That at Christmas he is almost what God wanted him to be. If I had to paint a picture of a man I think I'd wait Till he'd fought his selfish battles and had put aside his hate. I'd not catch him at his labors when his thoughts are all of pelf, On the long days and the dreary when he's striving for himself.

69. Flippy's Cat Page - Cat Poet's Corner - Lend Me A Kitten
another needing soul for us to love all his life. Author Unknown Adaptedfrom the poem To All Parents , by Edgar A. Guest 18811959.
http://www.flippyscatpage.com/lendmeakitten.html
Cat Poet's Corner
Lend Me A Kitten I will lend to you for a while a kitten, God said.
For you to love while he lives, and mourn when he's dead. Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three.
But will you, 'till I call him back, take care of him for me? He'll bring his charms to gladden you and should his stay be brief,
you'll always have his memories as solace for your grief. I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught below I want this kitten to learn. I've looked the whole world over in search of teachers true,
And from the folk that crowds life's land I have chosen you. Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain?
Nor hate me when I come to take my kitten home again? And my heart replied, "My Lord, Thy Will Be Done."
For all the joys this kitten brings, the risk of grief I'll run. We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may.
And for the happiness that we've known, forever grateful stay. But should you call him back much sooner than we planned

My great-grandma told my grandma the part she lived through that my grandma didn't; and my grandma told my mama what they both lived through and my mama told me what they all lived through and we're supposed to pass it down like that from generation to generation; so we never forget!

The Lay of the Troubled Golfer EDGAR A. GUEST (1881-1959) His eye was wild and his face was taut with anger and hate and rage
2 And the things he muttered were much too strong for the ink of the printed page.
3 I found him there when the dusk came down, in his golf clothes still was he,
4 And his clubs were strewn around his feet as he told his grief to me:
5 "I'd an easy five for a seventy-nine in sight of the golden goal
6 An easy five and I took an eight an eight on the eighteenth hole! 7 "I've dreamed my dreams of the `seventy men,' and I've worked year after year,
8 I have vowed I would stand with the chosen few ere the end of my golf career;
9 I've cherished the thought of a seventy score, and the days have come and gone
10 And I've never been close to the golden goal my heart was set upon.
11 But today I stood on the eighteenth tee and counted that score of mine,
12 And my pulses raced with the thrill of joy I'd a five for seventy-nine! 13 "I can kick the ball from the eighteenth tee and get this hole in five

Genealogy Thoughts
I have often dreamed about meeting my ancestors one day. I have learned so much about them that in some ways I know them better than people who are alive today. Once I dreamed that the first thing you do when you get to heaven is go down a receiving line shaking hands, hugging and kissing your ancestors. -Arthur Kurtzwell in his book From Generation To Generation If you could see your ancestors,
All standing in a row,
Would you be proud of them,
Or don't you really know. Some strange discoveries are made,
When climbing family trees,
And some of them you know,
Do not especially please. If you could see your ancestors,
All standing in a row,
There might be some of them,
You wouldn't care to know. But there's another question,
Which requires a different view, If you could meet your ancestors, Would they be proud of you?
The limbs that move, the eyes that see
