Mystical Experiences of Richard Jefferies
English naturalist, novelist, and essayist whose prophetic vision came from detailed observation of nature and his own life. Unappreciated in his own Victorian age, his writings are now embraced by those who are closely affiliated with the nature movement. The son of a yeoman farmer, Jefferies in 1866 became a reporter on the North Wilts Herald, and went on to produce many essays, a book for boys, and his most famous work, The Story of My Heart
"The story of my heart commences seventeen years ago. I was not more than eighteen when an inner and esoteric meaning began to come to me from all the visible universe, and undefinable aspirations filled me.

This collection contains photocopies of two letters home from a member of the 30th Virginia Infantry Regiment. The first letter, 11 April 1864, concerns camp life near Kinston, N.C., and an impending advance of a Confederate ironclad on the Neuse River against New Bern, N.C. The second letter, 11 June 1864, includes family news, a description of life in the trenches on Turkey Hill in Henrico County during the battle of Cold Harbor, and speculation on Ulysses S. Grant's strategy. The collection includes typescript copies of both letters. Aaron, David, Letter, 1864. 1 item. Mss2AA753a1.
A letter, 10 November 1864, from David Aaron to Dr. Thomas H. Williams of the Confederate Medical Department concerning Durant da Ponte, a reporter from the Richmond Whig , and medical supplies received by the CSS Stonewall
Asheville Gazette News
, 29 August 1908.
Kept by John C. Allen (b. 1833?), this diary outlines his service in Company C of the 7th Virginia Cavalry Regiment and as a prisoner of war. Early entries in the diary offer brief glimpses into Allen's daily life in the lower Shenandoah Valley before his capture near Romney, W.Va., in February 1864. The majority of the entries describe, in minimal detail, his imprisonment at Camp Chase, Ohio, Fort Delaware, Del., and Hilton Head Island, S.C. The information recorded concerns meals, weather, religious events, brief reactions to rumors concerning Confederate military fortunes, and a list of other Confederates incarcerated at Camp Chase.

Le frasi iniziali della letteratura di ogni tempo e paese. Indice Jens Peter Jacobsen Der burde have vaeret Roser. Fra Skitsebogen (Qui dovrebbero esserci state delle rose)
Qui dovrebbero esserci state delle rose. Forse.

(Traduzione: Giuseppe Gambetti)
(Traduzione: Giuseppe Gambetti) Mogens (Mogens)

of life itself, we sink our roots deep into the black soil and draw
power and being up into ourselves. We know the energy of the numen and are saturated with power and being. We feel grounded, centered, in touch with the ancient and eternal rhythms of life. JEEJEEBHOY—JEFFERIES occasionally been used as a royal residence, and was the scene, in November 1285, of the revels held in celebration of the marriage (solemnized in the abbey) of Alexander III. to Joleta, or Yolande, daughter of the count of Dreux. The site was occupied in 1823 by the county prison, now known as the castle, a castellated structure which gradually fell into disuse and was acquired by the corporation in 1890. A house exists in Backgate in which Mary Queen of Scots, resided in 1566, and one in Castlegate which Prince Charles Edward occupied in 1745. " Jethart or Jeddart justice," according to which a man was hanged first and tried afterwards, seems to have been a hasty generalization from a solitary fact—the summary execution in James VI.'s reign of a gang of rogues at the instance of Sir George Home, but has nevertheless passed into a proverb. Old Jeddart, 4 m. S. of the present town, the first site of the burgh, is now marked by a few grassy mounds, and of the great Jedburgh forest, only the venerable oaks, the " Capon Tree " and the "King of the Woods" remain. Bunion Hill (1095 ft.), about 2 m. south-west of Jedburgh, commands a fine view of the capital of the county. His title devolved in 1859 on his eldest son CURSETJEE, who, by a special Act of the Viceroy's Council in pursuance of a provision in the letters-patent, took the name of Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy as second baronet. At his death in 1877 his eldest son, MENEKJEE, became Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy, the third baronet. Both had the advantage of a good English education, and continued the career of benevolent activity and devoted loyalty to British rule which had signalized the life-work of the founder of the family. They both visited England to do homage to their sovereign; and their public services were recognized by their nomination to the order of the Star of India, as well as by appointment to the Legislative Councils of Calcutta and Bombay.
