He married Nancy Graves (1772-1814), and had a second wife Sally, with a total of 15 children. The second generation down included John Gill (1794-1864). He was born in Whitehall, NY, although at that time the town went by the name Skenesborough. John was married to Harriet Anderson (1800-1860), and they had four children, all male. The third generation down included my great-great grandfather, Alfred J. Gill (1830-1897). He married Harriet Eliza Rogers (1836-1917). Alfred and Harriet lived in Eaton, near Syracuse, and later near Buffalo. In 1865 they moved to Grand Rapids, MI, where my grandfather, father and I were born. I have a great deal more information about these and succeeding generations, and the families connected by marriage. I am very interested in adding earlier generations, especially finding an overseas link. The following is a summary of the Gill family of New York and Michigan. 1 Samuel Gill (1769-1856) married Nancy Graves (1772-1814). Children:
