(aka "The Civil War")
By
Lucan
(Marcus Annaeus Lucanus)
A.D. 39 - A.D. 65
Online Medieval and Classical Library Release #16b
Originally written in Latin, approximately A.D. 61-65, by the Roman poet Lucan, and probably left unfinished upon his death in A.D. 65. Although the work has been generally known through most of history as the "Pharsalia", modern scholarship tends to agree that this was not Lucan's choice for a title. English translation by Sir Edward Ridley, 1896. The text of this edition is based on that published as "The Pharsalia of Lucan", as translated by Sir Edward Ridley (Longmans, Green, and Co., London, 1896). This edition is in the PUBLIC DOMAIN in the United States. This electronic edition was edited, proofed, and prepared by Douglas B. Killings (DeTroyes@AOL.COM), May 1996. Preparer's Notes
CONTENTS PREPARER'S NOTES: Lucan's "Pharsalia" (or, "Civil War", as many scholars now prefer to call it) was written approximately a century after the events it chronicles took place.

11. Lord Lucan Says - PSION And Macintosh *can* Get Along!
How to exchange files between a PSION and a Mac without spending a small fortune
http://www.geocities.com/lucanlord
Connecting a PSION Series 5 or greater with a Mac and transferring data between the two can be done cheaply and relatively easily, as Lord Lucan has discovered. The excellent Lord is hereby sharing his insight for the good of the world.
File Transfer
Firstly, you will need a physical connection between your PSION and Macintosh. Lord Lucan's Mac is of the older variety, with a serial port, and we will assume that is what you have too. (If you in fact do not have a Mac of this type, then tough titty, Lord Lucan cannot help you. Do read on, however...) The Psion company sells MacConnect, a package containing *part* of the link you require, together with some decidedly underpowered software. MacConnect is not cheap, it will set you back some 39 pounds sterling. The cable is not complete either, it is an adapter cable that must be used between the cable they include with the PsiWin package (that is nowadays bundled with all PSIONs) and the Mac. A better solution is this: go to your Mac dealer and buy Palm MacPac. This is a connection package similar to MacConnect, but intended for use with a Palm handheld and a Mac with a serial port. It contains the very same adapter cable discussed above. (Palm also make a USB solution, so USB-equipped Mac owners may be in luck after all, but Lord Lucan has had no need to foray into this area.) Palm MacPac costs only 19 pounds sterling. Lord Lucan's Mac dealer assures him that not only is this cheaper than PSION's MacConnect, but it is also cheaper than buying the adapter cable on its own.

When I Grow Up, by Garbage
Trying hard to fit among you
Floating out to Wonderland
Unprotected
God I’m pregnant Damn the consequences When I grow up I’ll be stable I've taken a small break in order to finish the exams at Uni. Thankfully, they're finally over. So now I'm back and ready to continue spilling out my Story. Thank-you for your patience. Part 5, The Family History Both my parents are Australian born – my father in the West to a farming family and my mother in Queensland to an engineering family. My grandmother on the spindle (mother’s) side was the first female Engineering graduate from QU. Also on that side of the family you can pick up an Arch-Bishop of Sydney, and if you go back further, tracing the Russian roots, you find people that were the tutors to the Tsars of Russia. Just after that come family stories of people walking across Siberia to escape the Revolution. For reasons that I’ll get on to, I don’t know an awful lot about the historical stories of the spear (father’s) side of my family. I was born in England. In a place called Ashfield in Kent actually. I don’t know what my parents were doing there, it’s not something that I’ve been particularly interested, and I think that I may have left it a bit too late to find out. It isn’t all that important anyway.

LUCAN
Lucan is about 20 minutes and eight miles away from Dublin city, the capital of Ireland. Lucan is situated in the West of County Dublin and it is on the East side of Ireland. The population of Lucan is around 12,259 people. The population of Lucan is growing very much because new housing estates are going up in places that were farms and fields. The village is quite big and has two rivers that run through it. The rivers are called the Griffen and the river Liffey. The village has many small businesses, shops, a hotel, pubs and two shopping centres.
The Spa Hotel is the main hotel here in Lucan and it is usually all booked out when the All Ireland football and hurling finals are on. Each September the footballers and the hurlers play in Croke Park and they battle for the Sam Maguire and the Liam McCarthy cup. Lucan has six primary schools. They are Scoil Mhuire, St. Mary's, Lucan Boys, St. Anne's, St. Thomas's and St. Andrews. There are three major secondary schools which are called St. Joseph's Secondary (all girls), the Community College (boys and girls) and the Brothers (all boys). Lucan has a lot of recreation facilities. The community centre is one of these great facilities. The Griffen Park with numerous playing pitches, an athletic track, an all weather hockey pitch,a pitch and putt and a golf course.

Lucan is a flautist from Wellington New Zealand who likes playing around with electronic things and getting unusual sounds out of his flute, vocal cords, and whatever else seems fun at the time. He also plays Irish folk style music on the streets of Wellington in his spare time, or when he's in need of some petty cash. "Archangel" was composed and performed by Lucan, who played "Shaw" B flat whistle and sang. It was recorded and produced by Simon Che de Boer.

There's no mistaking the authentic charm of the Lucan Spa hotel. From the unique copper tower on the roof - a familiar landmark for generations of travellers to and from Dublin - to the cheerful familiarity of our staff, there's nothing else quite like it. Originally part of the Sarsfield Estate, the hotel commemorates the legendary Irish cavalry commander, Patrick Sarsfield, and retains much of the charm of another era. Just 7 miles from Dublin City centre, yet a world away from it's busy traffic, with easy access to Dublin international airport the Lucan Spa hotel is a destination that no one will want to forget.
